One decent thing about Migration is there weren’t many pop songs drowning out the movie. The credits rolled and only three songs were listed.

Tom Smothers had a great eye for talent, giving Steve Martin his first big break. He saw Bob Einstein do a bit on the local news in LA and hired him also.

I'll have to check out the trailer - if it didn't sell what the film actually is, then there's part of the reason.

Just watched it - awful. The song kills it. They don't do that in the movie.

Right? They chop up the movie in service of that song. And if you’re a young person, the Kathy Bates moments aren’t going to make you want to see the movie.

DR Iris, David told me several wonderful Hermione Gingold - a friend of his mother's - stories yesterday. The Gingold Group just presented Shaw's Arms and the Man. My friend Karen Ziemba was in the cast. I wish I could have seen it.

Thanks as well for the YouTube links. I never knew he had done any recordings besides After the Ball.

David's visit lasted around 90 minutes. Annabelle climbed all over him, and Stella kept climbing onto me - she never does this except when company comes over! - to sit in my lap. Thatch kept coming close to David to check him out before running away.

Not if I can help it.

The timing is both awful and exquisite. I just delivered the bad news about a rehearsal tomorrow, which is not an insignificant hardship for a few other people. But it's fully necessary and essential for me.

The better part is that I can stay in and recover before my next eye exam on Tuesday. That's still a little too close for comfort, but it is what it is.
