We finally had full-bore sunshine today, and it was glorious if a bit windy and cool.

Now, it is dark.

Or, rather, it is "dart".

I say that because of 2-year old Audrey James Moore who responds to requests she does not care for by saying "It's too dart!"

This expression evolved from being told by her parents that "It's too darK" to do some of the things she comes up with at times, like going to see a friend at night, or going outside to play, etc.

But, tell her it's her bedtime and "It's too dart".  Get ready for your bath and "It's too dart".

It's cute, I think.  Audrey is my second cousin, daughter of Becky Mims Moore, daughter of my first cousin Debra Bledsoe Mims, daughter of my Aunt Doris (my mom's younger sister),

It’s too darn dart these days.

And when he lived in Pittsburgh, he differed trauma caused by lime gelatin. I will never recover from mine.

What sort of trauma did you suffer from lime gelatin, John?  I've never heard of this reaction.

When I was living at home, we ate everything that was served to us. We ate food that was burnt, food that had been long past its expiration date, food that was poorly prepared. We ate what we were served and we were grateful. Or so we were told.

In all of those 17 years, there was but one exception. It’s was a tuna fish casserole, or so it was called. The recipe came from our congressman and was meant to stretch your food budget.

It featured canned tuna fish, rice, walnuts and your four basic green vegetables: celery, canned green beans, canned peas and canned lima beans. And it was all held together by lime gelatin.

Dad tasted it and refused to eat it. That meant we could follow suit.

I think we ended up with sandwiches.

Mom ate all of that dish, wimpering every day about how we don’t appreciate all she does for us.

Because the recipe came from our congressman, my sister Annaliese swears to this day that it was a government conspiracy.

Years later, when I was a restaurant critic, I entered a competition called A Mother’s Day Revenge. You had to write about the worst thing your mother ever served you. I won.

Grand prize was a catered multi-course dinner for four with wine.

I wish I had the original recipe. I’ve never seen it, but I have found close variations, including one with canned chicken and lemon gelatin.

Funny thing is, neither my mother or father remembered that dish. But the three of us kids can still taste it.

I detested canned tuna back then. Imagine added canned lima beans, walnuts and all the rest of that suspended in lime gelatin.

To borrow a quote from BK, vomit on the ground.

I tried to get revenge on my parents. I took them out for dim sum and placed a chicken’s foot on each of their plates. I told them that they couldn’t leave the table until they had cleaned their plates. They refused.

It sounds like you hardly ate any.  I would rather had your lime gelatin dish than brains mixed with canned dog food shoved down my mouth ;D

If those are the only two choices, I'd choose the lime gelatin dish, too.

Changing dark to dart in titles could change the meaning of the film.

Making a jambalaya mix for dinner. Have no idea if it’s any good. It’s kinda scary in that you add protein and spice at the end.
