Possible homage to BK's "Up are new notes."

Had plans to meet friends for dinner. But it’s sleeting here. Not driving in that.

Here’s the cranberry sauce pie. It was a hit. Every person who took a small slice returned for seconds.

The issue from the Critics Choice awards of the Best Song presenters naming Jack Black, Ariana DeBose and Ryan Gosling as "actors who think they can sing" seems to have gone mega-viral.

Here's the New York Post story on this.

I finally made the gingerbread house, DR Jane!

I don't think it will win any awards.

It is very cute and it looks tasty.

DR Vixmom I will never ask you to make me a PBJ sandwich.  I do agree about weird nut  butters.  I could live with plain white bread though I prefer a tastier bread.  I could live with creamy peanut butter while I prefer chunky.  I cannot live with grape jelly ;D

"Dondi" was my favorite comic strip.  When I went away to camp my parents mailed the strips to me.

Saturday nights my parents usually went out with friends.  On the way home they would stop to pick up the Sunday LA Times.  We had a nice laundry container with a lid that was kept in the hallway outside of my bedroom.  My father would leave the comic section on top of the lid.  In the morning I would get the comics and return to bed to read them.

Remember the other day when I said it was in the 50’s?

It’s snowing.

 :o
It was a crazy morning and I never had time to do my weather check in Maryland.

TOD:  A strange memory came today after I read BK's question about what music I might have heard on the radio.

I was in Navy Boot Camp in Orlando FL in the summer of 1970.  I had been appointed as a squad leader and one of our "extra" leadership experiences was standing a two-hour watch, overnight, in the main entry to our barracks.

There wasn't a chance in Hades anyone would be coming in from midnight to two, or two to four, etc., but it was the experience of "standing watch" that they were instilling.

I had only one such watch, and I remember it well because a radio was playing to help keep us alert.

And what did I hear?  The very first time I ever heard The Carpenters and "Close to You" was during that watch.

I thought I had died and gone to heaven hearing Karen Carpenter's lovely voice and that wonderful Bacharach tune.

Great memory, and the song certainly kept you awake.

So guess what!

There was a squall line that crossed the northeast yesterday, and as per usual, there are trees down all over the place. Unfortunately, an old rotted one that was just close enough to hit the house... hit the house. Nothing catastrophic like in 2018, but certainly some damage that needs to be attended to (along with that tale).

I've submitted an insurance claim and ... thank GAWD for knowing this guy ... our contractor friend who's worked on the house before has already been out to start assessing the damage. The insurance wants him to make sure that any place that needs a tarp to keep snow and rain from entering will go up, and he'll be doing that today.

Fun, fun, fun.

Thanks goodness you have someone to immediately begin fixing the problem.

I dreamt I was a doctor aboard a cruise ship. Thankfully I had no patients. Or patience.

;D

I would much rather had had your dream than mine that I am not repeating.

DR CharlesSmith, I'm sorry your home has been damaged again. I hope the repair is swift and secure.

Knock wood, I have a great contractor friend, and great contractors who are responsive and actually take care of things in a timely manner can be very hard to come by...just about anywhere. I am very fortunate.

You are very lucky.
