I discovered The Beatles on the radio.  And one day in 1969, I was driving home and a song came on that was so good......I stayed in the car until it was over so I could find out what it was.

It was:  I Think I Love You by David & Shirley Cassidy & The Partridge Family.

After that, I started watching the show and buying the records.

Also, there's a big crack in the roof. Almost as if a tree had hit it.

Well, it is that time of year ;)

I wonder how the Io-way Cock-Us-Says are going?  Or do they not start until later?

Holy f'n......

I just got an automated call from my pharmacy saying my prescription (Prolensa, an eye drop) is ready for pickup. The price will be $137.00. Say wha'? The other eye drop I use for this (the antibiotic) was only $12.00! I think this one's an anti-inflammatory. How could it be so much?

I called and got a person, who confirmed that and added that it originally came in at $128 - and the INSURANCE raised it to $137. How do you like them apples? With friends like that...

Anyway, I was first given sample packs for it at the doctor's, and I just talked to them and they are more than willing to give me another batch when I'm ready to do the second eye. Isn't that nice? They really are a great office in all respects.

That is nice you can get another sample pack.

I shoveled my drive way.....not too much sn*w.

I put the trash bin down by the street.

AND both cars started!  I can't believe it......but I didn't want to wait one more night of below zero temps before at least trying them.

I discovered plenty of people on the radio: The Carpenters, The Manhattan Transfer, Donna Summer, Barbra Streisand, to name a few.

Then, when I got into 40s music, there was an oldies station (remember when oldies meant something other than 90s music?) that taught me some great stuff. Elmer’s Tune was a particular favorite.

My family had a tradition that one Christmas present every year would be wrapped in the funny pages. I haven’t been able to continue that tradition because I haven’t gotten a newspaper in ages.

The Partridge Family at Home with Their Greatest Hits is one of the first records I can remember hearing in our family stereo.

Memorial service was nice. Jim and Shirley had been married for 70 years. She died last September. He died in December.

70 years, wow.  I'm glad the service was nice.

Our guy just came back, went up and singlehandedly threw the debris off the roof, and sealed up two (maybe three) places where the snow could get through. So we're good for this coming storm. Which is exactly what the insurance company wanted to hear as well.

Excellent.  Do you know when he will be able to begin the repairs?

Stay warm and dry.

Had plans to meet friends for dinner. But it’s sleeting here. Not driving in that.

Absolutely not just to go out to dinner.

Here’s the cranberry sauce pie. It was a hit. Every person who took a small slice returned for seconds.

Yum.

Saturday nights my parents usually went out with friends.  On the way home they would stop to pick up the Sunday LA Times.  We had a nice laundry container with a lid that was kept in the hallway outside of my bedroom.  My father would leave the comic section on top of the lid.  In the morning I would get the comics and return to bed to read them.

That sounds really nice.

It was.  I also remember we occassionally went out on a Saturday night with our parents, and then stopping at the big newstand in Beverly Hills for the paper on the way home.

On the way home from the gym today we stopped at the market.  We don't expect to go anywhere tomorrow as another storm is heading our way.

Fortunately it won't be as cold.  I just hope it is warm enough not to burst another pipe in the building.  We, thank goodness, do not have any water damage.

Currently there are three trucks from one contractor company in our parking lot.  I don't know which unit they are working on.

Two units had a good amount of damage, one more than the other.  We helped another neighbor clean up water.  I don't know who else had damage but have been told there were five units damaged.

That's too bad, DR Jane. I hope there isn't any further damage.

TOD:  I think when I was very young, I heard most top 40 radio songs when they'd pop up on TV first.

Pop songs would be on the variety shows.  I'm pretty sure I heard Marie Osmond sing "Last Dance" on TV before I heard Donna Summer sing it.

I listened to pop radio incessantly in the early 70s. Of course, pop music of then was very different from what it is today, if it even still exists. The market is so segmented now.
