Well, you've read the notes, the notes were amused that Muse Margaret was amused, and now it is time for you to post until the amused cows come home.

Topic of the Day:

The Nutty Professor is the only movie of Jerry Lewis' that I can specifically remember seeing.  I know I've seen some Martin & Lewis films, but I have no idea which ones they were. :-\

Didn't watch the Emmys, but recorded them, just in case something outrageous happened.

I was reading my classical music news headline aggregator, and read this: "Royal Ballet Chef Dies."

I looked again; it actually says "Chief."

I was thinking, what would a Ballet Chef do? Put out a few celery sticks?

I slept rather well last night. The temperature was around 28 degrees F, I was buried in sheets, quilts, blankets, and three cats who behaved quite nicely and slept together peacefully. I did not want to get up.

Sn*w day.

Won't be a lot, but there's going to be ice mixed in, and possibly freezing rain after, which is always awful.

I'm staying in, anyhoo.

I have a simple accompaniment track to make for someone.

Should probably work on some other music, too, but at this point I'm mostly waiting till my second eye is done next week and I can have balanced vision between the two with reading gasses.

I have good news on the weather front for Johnston SC.  Tonight's low will not get anywhere NEAR 8 degrees.  We are getting a warmer 19 degrees for tonight.

Isn't that awesome?

Yesterday was a "first day" that has been a long time coming.

Yesterday, I began going through kitchen cabinets and getting rid of things my mom had accumulated but never used and which I never intend to use.

I started with cookbooks and recipes....and there were three full cabinet shelves of books, booklets, clippings, etc.  I spent hours going through some of them to weed out stuff I'll never use (like a recipe for "mashed turnips"....YUCK!) and a lot of clippings from newspapers of recipes that tickled her imagination but never got made.

Sadly, I have the same predilection myself...I save a lot of recipes which, on later examination, I know I'll never prepare.

So....three vast cabinet shelves full of stuff piled up and stuffed as far back as she could get it stuffed.  Oof.   And now it's available to me for things I need it for...getting foodstuffs off countertops and into cabinets.

Throughout the afternoon, I was bending and stretching, reaching and toting, and last night I felt so sore I could barely move.  That followed me through the night in that I remained in one sleeping position lest I moved some muscle that didn't want to be moved.

I feel a bit better this morning, and some stretching will be in order before I resume.  I have lots of cabinets and closets to go through before anything is completed.  My mom threw away NOTHING...but she also did not hoard, so there is THAT to be grateful for.  As a child of the depression, she couldn't bear to part with anything that could be of use.

In addition to tonight's higher low, the weather guessers are predicting rain for us today while temps are in the 40s.  As long as it doesn't snow/sleet, I will be happy.

And what is wrong with a bit of snow or sleet?

Apart from the fact that locals have zero experience driving in same, I have a bet with my cousin Debra that it won't snow here this year.

If I win, it's $5 for me.  I I lose, it's $5 for her.    We began this routine decades ago...and it used to be a lot cheaper.  Started with $1.

Of course, $5 today won't buy what $1 would buy a few decades ago, so it's a cheap bet at best.

A few decades ago, $1 would buy you anywhere from 3 to 5 gallons of gasoline.  $5 today won't buy two gallons.

TOD:  I enjoyed some Martin and Lewis films, like "Pardners" and "The Caddy".  I seem to recall liking Lewis in "Cinderfella" and "The Nutty Professor".

Lewis films, today, are ones I don't much want to see any longer.  I would love to see some of the earlier Martin and Lewis films.

Congrats to DR RON PULLIAM on starting the purge.

There is a great DVD collection of Martin & Lewis that I bought years ago.  It has two of my favorites PARDNERS and ARTISTS & MODELS.
