We had over a foot of snow. Kids were home from school. We’re basically trapped, but it’s a good kind of trapped as long as power and heat are working.

Snow from the roof of the garage slid off and compacted the snow already on the driveway leaving a giant mound of snow I had to dig through in case we do need to leave.  Wind overnight expected, that’s why I worry about power. Snow-covered trees blowing over.

DR MATTHEW SHE LOVES ME is a favorite in these here parts - before you were born!

I also have been a fan of She Loves Me for many years, although not as many as Jrand. ;)

And while we're on the Hoosier pipeline...who recalls that Dan Quayle is related to Eugene C. Pulliam, former owner of a major mid-western publishing empire?

And although I am loath to make such a connection, I will say his connection is by marriage and that there is a long line of begats between my side of the Pulliams and Eugene's.

Interesting, and I had not made the connection.  In fact, I rarely think of Quayle.

I have two reasons to remember him at all:

He defeated incumbent Democrat Birch Bayh for a U.S. Senate seat in 1980.

He added an "e" to "potato" on a schoolroom chalk board that basically labelled him as a "doofus" VP.

Oh, for the simpler days of actual republican embarrassments. ::)

It’s 42 here today. 27 schools in San Antonio couldn’t open today because of frozen pipes or power outage.

Yikes! :o

I believe I read Quayle advised that other Hoosier toolbag, Pence, that he needed to certify the election, the law was clear. So we have Dan to thank for that, at least.

Wednesday afternoon greetings!  It is, indeed, our 43rd wedding anniversary and we gave each other negative Covid test results as tokens of our love.

Those are wonderful gifts, Ginny! ;D

Also, some wag on the Internet wrote:

Why does this country insist on caucusing in Iowa, where a conman who couldn't read music famously convinced an entire town to purchase instruments for his non-existent boy band just by talking fast and citing an absurd number of trombones?

Well, I've educated myself a little bit about Joyce Kilmer, and given that he died in 1918, I don't believe that he is the father of Val.
But I may be wrong.

They still may be related.

We just watched the Lincoln Project video, "God Made a Dictator".

That's a real good one.

And a Very Happy Anniversary to Ginny and Richard! ;D

Thank you, DR George.  I hope you and Shelly enjoy your dinner as much as we did!

We did!  She got the Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara, and I just had the Meatballs Parmigiana appetizer.

The maintenance guy is here trying to fix my thermostat.  I had to put the boys in the bedroom and they are behaving well.  I would like to get cleaned up and ready to go to rehearsal soon, feed the boys etc... the guy is taking his time.

Good luck getting to rehearsal on time, and that your fixed thermostat works correctly.

We found the issue, things are looking up and there is still plenty of time to get to rehearsal!   Will be nice to able to have a little heat when needed as I don't normailly keep it on at all.

Very good news, Matthew!

I took this photo from Facebook so I'm not sure everyone can see it.

"Icy sunset on the Oregon coast."

Very nice picture, Jane!
