I have accomplished three - no, make it four - things thus far today:

1. Had my one-week left eye checkup with my new best friend, the ophthalmologist/surgeon, and all is well in that department.
2. Stopped in at the supermarket for a dozen things I needed. Actually, if truth be told, it was a dozen things I *wanted*.
3. Ate a late breakfast/lunch consisting of a really thick everything bagel from Whole Foods, lightly toasted, and spread with a whole mashed avocado which in turn was heavily sprinkled with a newfangled thing we picked up: dry guacamole seasoning.
4. Not least, I managed to get Mikey the cat clipped in advance of his visit to the vampire tomorrow morning.

Whew. I'm done. Time to sit back and relax.

Nice remembrances of Peter Schickele here. I wish I could have known him. That's incredible about him sending you the home-brewed CDs, DR Elmore.

I pretty near wore out all the LPs of his I had.

Except, not literally. I've never worn out an LP except for a few in my pre-college years when I knew nothing about how to care for them. I might even still have the P.D.Q. Bach albums. I'll check in a little while.

TOD - I'm not a huge fan of Leonard Bernstein, mostly because I can't wrap my head around jazz, and I find his music to have that sort of style to it. I've done West Side Story 4 times - 1 of those times, we used tracks, 2 of the times, I played the synthesizer part in the reduced orchestration, and once I conducted it. I want to say that conducting WSS was a feather in my cap. To date, I've only stick conducted 6 shows - Aspects of Love, The Secret Garden, Seussical, Anything Goes, Sunset Boulevard and West Side Story. With the exception of Seussical and Anything Goes - the rest were certainly a workout.

Speaking of shows, last night's rehearsal of She Loves Me was fantastic. We learned all the music for Scene 1 and blocked it as well. This is new for me, usually we learn the music, then we block/choreograph, but this seemed to work very well. I'm excited about the show, already it looks great!
