Who decides these things?

The two linked ladies sure seem to disagree!

Watching a short on the making of Hitchcock’s Lifeboat. Apparently star Tallulah Bankhead didn’t like wearing underwear, which was causing problems for the assistant director. He went to Hitchcock and asked him to deal with it. Hitchcock, according to his daughter, said no, because he couldn’t tell if that fell under the purview of wardrobe or hairstyling.

Thanks to all for the comments on the play writing.

Yes DR IRIS I hope it is intriguing.  I'm am not optimistic about a production - but stranger things have happened.

There is in fact a musical on the same subject playing Off-Broadway in April, I think, although it had a production in 2022.

I was watching some clips from the Reader’s Digest-produced Adventures of Tom Sawyer on YouTube. Johnny Whittaker so good. I didn’t realize Warren Oates ever sang a musical number in a film before.

Reader’s Digest there’s a brand that was once so powerful. Used to produce such great hardcover picture books.

I saw an actual Reader’s Digest at the airport last week and bought it out of nostalgia. It’s published in Iowa now. I didn’t know it still existed. Well, the newsstand copy was from November, so who knows?

Anyway it was utter garbage.

Apparently its corporate address is in Iowa but its editorial office is in Manhattan now. It’s run by private equity grifters. I remember it used to have a palatial campus in Chappaqua, NY.

My grandpa gave me a Reader’s Digest radio he got as a premium once. Picked up police band, shortwave, CB, airplanes… Loved that thing.
