YES DR JANE I am glad he came back....to reclaim the meal.

It looked very good and included an ice cream sundae so I was sad to see it go.

NYC HHW denizens.....have you heard anything of BRILLIANCE the Frances Farmer musical that had a reading or performance or SOMETHING in January?

This is on Broadwayworld - from 2022!

"Brilliance, a new musical based on the life of actress Frances Farmer, is set to make its New York premiere in an Off-Broadway residency at The Players Theatre (115 Macdougal Street) for a three-week limited engagement. The musical is scheduled to open on Thursday, April 7."

Randall Kleiser’s name in BK’s notes (was it yesterday?) reminds me of his great Christmas movie, The Gathering. Real tearjerker.

I hope it got to the person before the ice cream melted.

I remembered something unanswered from yesterday. From DR Jane:
Quote
DR Chas Orange Julius.  When I think of Orange Julius today I am not impressed.  When I think of it from my childhood, charming and delicious.

I only had it had two locations.  My mother and I would stop at the drug store counter, sit at the counter and have an Orange Julius along with a sandwich or hot dog.

Later I would get them at Stan's, who made them extra special.  If I also got a hot dog then I would sit at the counter to eat, otherwise it was either sit to drink & chat with Stan or get it to go.

It's actually a little surprising that I only positively remember ever having it in three places:  (1) On Hollywood Blvd., where I discovered it on moving there in summer 1972. I think it was a stand, not a real walk-in place. I always picture it on the north side of the Blvd., but I believe it was actually just to the left (east) of the New-View.  (2) Stan's, my favorite. A chili dog and a Julius and a donut or two there are something I'd kill to have now.  (3) Wilshire and Beverly Dr. - or was it Canon? - north side of Wilshire, on the first floor of the office building right there at street level, in the mid-to-late 70s.

Fast forward about 40 years and I'm walking through a mall here one day, and there was a modern-day incarnation of Orange Julius. I knew this was going to end up being a waste of a couple of bucks, but I had to do it -- I had just the orange drink, which of course was nothing close to what I remembered from L.A.  That wonderful taste and texture were a thing of the past.

Sadly the mall drinks were rather bad, yet I tried a number of them before giving up.

Someone gave me a bucket of kale yesterday. Today we ate kale salads. We'll eat kale salads for a number of days, I believe.

I first started the day by visiting with a friend that I hadn't seen in person since last year, so that was fun.

After the visit, I went to OlyTheater at the mall (Theater Artists Olympia's theater space) to deliver a check, and a new tablet that was donated to TAO to use for ticket check-ins.

Then I stuck around and visited with the people who were there working on fixing the light fixtures.
