I must inform you all that geese mating season is in full swing at this time. And they are having one heck of a row out on the pond behind my house.

Happily, they have not serenaded me under my bedroom window as they have done in years past.

Bless their hearts.

I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep with the weirdest dreams ever, including one where I got a call to tell me I was up for an Academy Award for best actor.

I may have missed it. It gave me an excuse to look it up and see what had actually been cut besides "Rejoice Greatly."  Curiously, the Bernstein recording was also heavily cut, so both recordings in the Columbia catalogue were incomplete. RCA had the complete work in the Goosens-Beecham Wagnerian opera orchestration, and Capital's classical side, Angel Records, had a complete, very Germanic recording with international opera stars conducted by Otto Klermperer. There was also a Westminster recording, also very German, from the Vienna State Opera.

All of those recordings would turn you off Messiag forever, although the Goosens-Beecham recording for a while was considered camp.

My cousin Susan (by marriage) has responded to the FB thread I referenced the other day.  It was about how much worse things were four years ago (as a refresher for those who think things are bad now).

She responded at that time with things she finds bad now that were better four years ago.

I reminded her of things that happened beginning four years ago that were far worse.

Another person added insult to injury (in support of my comments).

She responded today "Excuses".

To which I said: "Good ones, though...based on facts."

I am sorely tempted to block her butt.

Netflix find that has me spellbound:

"The Gentlemen" -- an 8-part series starring Theo James.

I am up to episode 6.  I don't know if this is a complete story arc or a possible first season, but it's very well done.

It's very well acted, funny, off-beat, somewhat violent and intensely interesting, thus far.

With Klemperer's lineup of singers, he should have recorded Mozart's 1789 arrangement of Messiah, which is quite beautiful.

BK, my favorite Messiah, conducted by Sir Colin Davis, is complete on YouTube; I don't think you will ever be a baroque music lover, but you might give this a listen:

I actually like a lot of Baroque music - Bach, Corelli, Albinoni, Vivaldi and others.

MR BK would you rather win the Oscar for acting or composing?

I'm sorry she is related to you.  I would try to ignore her from now on.  "Escuses" is a bad response.

We have a favorite person in this building.  Today walking with another neighbor/friend we were told not to discuss politics with that person.  We said we know and were surprised she attempted to do so.
