Did you read anything good?

Thursday evening group read HORSE by Geraldine Brooks (not my fave) and Friday group read ABSOLUTION by Alice McDermott (more to my liking).

Too bad about HORSE.  I liked it very much and it was a hit with our book group.  ABSOLUTION looks interesting.  I put a hold on it at my library.

Sorry to miss all the HHW hijinks. I’ve been very busy with this, that, and the other, which includes trying to reduce The Accumulation before it turns into a sunami and buries me. Despite my efforts the progress has been much slower than I’d like.  🙁

I see I missed Rodzinski’s birthday and perhaps some others. Sorry, Rodz. Hope it was a good one. To the rest of you, too.

Vixmom, prior to cataract surgery I was what is called in the biz a high minus (extremely nearsighted), plus I had an astigmatism. My glasses were always expensive and often weren’t correct. Once I had cataract surgery I thought my eyes would be normal and the cost of my glasses would be reduced. Well, not so much. Progressive lenses are just expensive, no matter how you cut it. My health insurance now covers part of it, which really helps. Without insurance, my glasses were about $1000 for frame and lenses, even after promotions. Eye care isn’t cheap.

How to drive in a roundabout:

And I hate roundabouts. They work fine as long as there’s little traffic, but when does that happen? I can’t believe that LA is trying to bring them back.

I took a look at my calendar for next week, and I have to jump for joy that there is NOTHING on it in the way of medical appointments.  Only an Easter Sunday lunch with Butch and Sharon at Pine Ridge.

Just for fun I looked at April.  The entire month is CLEAR!   That must mean I have forgotten to write something down.  I don't generally have an open month.  Time will tell.

I, too, love a clear calendar. It seldom happens, though. I have several visits I’m putting off, because it’s just too much.

I thought you corrected your vision to only need distance glasses.  Was the astigmatism corrected with your surgery?

I'm now ready to have cataract surgery but need to decide to leave my eyes alone or correct for distance.  The doctor is concerned I won't adjust to losing my close up vision and needing reading glasses if I correct my distance vision.  I really want to stop wearing glasses all the time.

When did LA have roundabouts?  I only remember the little one on Beverwill or Beverly Drive.
