Thanks DR George for the paper tech explanation. It's interesting to hear these things from a stage manager perspective. When I hear "tech rehearsal" I think of fun things like cue-to-cue.

That happened today.  We just finished a run through of act one, now we're breaking and waiting for food.  Then, we'll run act two and see what happens after that. :)

OMG - Doug was the Sibelius arteest (Sibelius being the music notation software, not the composer).

I'd imagined there was some nameless person locked in a closet somewhere, slaving over a hot computer.

When Doug and I had our first meetingm I asked about a copyist. I saidtat Indiana wasn't paying enough to hire a copyist. Doug saud he would do it.  I think he liked hearing how the score sounded as he entered the parts. He also conducts the Tudor Choir and they have wonderful CDs on Amazon. He's very talented.

DR Elmore, will this new score be published?

I don't know. My publisher is interested in handling rentals, and Doug, Phil, and I want to assemble an orchestra suite. But I don't know about publishing the full ballet score.

I love my H-E-B

https://www.tpr.org/podcast/texas-matters/2024-03-30/texas-matters-the-gop-v-h-e-b?_amp=true

I do, too, and I've never been in one but I know what a great store they are.
This is beyond belief.

(Anyone following along, the printed transcript on that page is abbreviated. Listen to the first ten minutes of the broadcast to get it all. If you can stomach it. Frankly, I'm amazed that a "Texas Public Radio" can even exist. Sorry, Texans.)

I once attended a conference at Indiana University and we got a tour of the main theater. I recall that the backstage and wings are all the same size as the main stage. And of course their main stage is far larger than our little stage. Heck, at our theater you have to go outside to cross.

Actually, here at Lakewood Playhouse, there are a couple of the actors also have to go outside for crosses and entrances.

Followed by whoops and applause.

I'm listening on my desktop audio monitors, so maybe it's just that I'm in control of setting a satisfying volume, but I could almost think the orchestra is playing even better than last night. As they probably should be doing, being more and more comfortable with the whole thing.

The orchestra is playing better today, and I expect they will play even better tonight.

Back from the mail place - both important envelopes were there as was the Amazon package, which contained the softcover of Directed by. It looks really nice. I should have the one from the publisher plus the hardcover shortly.

Nice!
