Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

Easter makes me think of Dick Van Dyke’s character in “What A Way To Go!”

“Hop, hop, hop to Hopper’s!”

I see that the New York Times reviewer had a similar reaction, so it's not just me. I'll be interested to see what other DRs think!

100% agreement. I think for anyone who liked the subtle charms of the movie, the stage version was a heavy handed affair that negated all that subtlety. If I never saw the film, I might have enjoyed it somewhat.

Are you taking a trip to London?  If so, that sounds like a lot of fun.

Yes, leaving next week for family history research, plus two concerts and the show. I haven't seen the Opening Night movie yet, so I just rented it to watch this week.

One of my all-time favorites is The Spitfire Grill.  I love that musical (and it doesn't hurt that Liz Callaway is on the original cast album).  I've seen two different productions and loved both.  I think that it would be hard to screw up this one.

Ah yes, good choice! A local company did it recently and I missed it. That was before I listened to the original cast album during a Liz Callaway deep dive.

Did someone mention Waitress the musical? Or one I’m about to see, Hairspray?

Here's a positive Opening Night review:

https://www.timeout.com/london/theatre/opening-night-review

So we'll see. I haven't gone to something like this in years, pretty much since we moved from Boston and saw some really weird things at American Repertory Theatre. I don't think anything can be worse than Has Washington Legs but who knows...

Interesting.  Although they reviewed the actual show and the article I posted was more about the audience. ::)

Don't worry, it's not hard to find pans that review the actual show! But the reasoning for the pans leads me to believe I might like it.
