Oh, my goodness! Wildlife Photographer Wakes Up From A Nap Under A Tree With… A Sleeping Cheetah Against Him
Law Day.I know an ex-president who is unqualified to celebrate that day.
Quote from: Rodzinski on May 01, 2024, 06:54:42 AMI remember in Cagney’s autobiography he said maybe the only actor he couldn’t stand in all his years of making films was Horst Bucholz.Yes indeed. The gentleman introducing the film mentioned that. Does Cagney also state that the making of the film was so exhausting (and not a totally pleasant experience) that that mostly accounts for his then-retirement?

I never understood any of the hoopla over Horst Buchholz. Oh, yes, there was "hoopla" or he would not have made a bunch of films, including "The Magnificent Seven" and "One, Two, Three." Of course, he missed out on a few roles, such as Tony in "West Side Story" and the Omar Sharif role in "Lawrence of Arabia."He came to Hollywood in the 50s and was labeled the "German James Dean". Meh.

How nice it was not to have to get up at 5:30 in the a.m. to hit the road by 6:30!
I'd forgotten this yesterday, but part of the nice memory of seeing the movie when it opened is that it was a good friend's dad who took my friend and me to see it. (Their mom was out doing something that night. They were a family I really liked, in an interesting house I really liked, and unfortunately I foolishly lost touch with them when we moved across town some months later.) After the movie his dad explained to us boys what that then-new Berlin Wall thing was all about -- and to the best of my memory, at that tender age, that was my first ever awareness of the Wall.
I did a home sleep test last night, which means I didn't sleep.
I don't know if I mentioned this already, but...You may recall I live across the street from where my aunt and uncle lived from 1950 until their deaths in 2021 and 2022. The house is occupied, but they don't seem to own a lawn mower. The yard is awash in dandelions. A sea of dandelions. All the other yards are well maintained (or immaculate!), but not this house. It seems a bit unfriendly to walk over and complain to them, but the fact is that those yellow flowers will very shortly turn into whitish puff balls of seeds and the winds will scatter them hither, thither and yon, all of which means I'll get the bulk of them (being yon between thither and hither).I have thought about paying someone to cut their yard, but that would be a gross violation of their rights. Last year, the man of that house used a weed eater and cut the entire yard. PO'd in Johnston, I am!
DR JANE is busy being a gadabout.....and we know what the Apostle Paul said about THAT!

Why the HELL is Jane in Ireland. I don't think she has grandchildren there and I've heard through the grapevine she's about as Irish as gefilte fish.
