Topic of the Day:  I've never been to Vegas, but I have been to Reno once.  My friend Misi and I did road trip to Weber State University in Utah to visit several friends who were doing summer stock there.  We saw a fabulous production of City of Angels (but i forget what else we may have seen).  Anyway, on our way back, we stayed one night in Reno and I lost $100. ::) But we had fun.

I have been to Vegas twice. Not a fan. I find the evilness of the place to be palpable.

Saw no shows. There was no one I was interested in seeing.

As for the Dinsney-fied atmosphere, well ...

On one trip, my friends and I went out walking after midnight with their 8-year-old. The kid wanted to go to M&M World. On the way, the kid was handed a flier for some strip show. It was fairly graphically illustrated. His mom was horrified. He was thrilled.

In 2001, I did get from England a PAL/Region 2 DVD of Bette Midler's live concert, Diva Las Vegas.  I have loved just about every concert that she's had filmed...especially Divine Madness!  I just wish a complete version of that show could be released.

Not that I have anything against croutons, mind you.

I got plenty of sleep, around 9.5 hours. I awoke at 6:00 and decided to get up. By 6:10, I had dressed, played a bit with Annabelle, stood up, held onto my table chair, took a step, and my rght knee gave way, andf I fell backward, taking the chair with me. I ended up on the floor on my back, fully aware that at 6:10 it wpould be rude to scream for help.

I cleared space aroud me, pushing slippers, books, and cats out of the way. I was able to grab te handle of the sturdy air purifier and roll myself onto my knees. Then I could get up. It was 6:30.

Nothing was broken, and it was not a serious fall like last week, but I'm frightened. This is my second fall because of leg-knee issues, and there's no way to control them or know at what point it will happen. I worry that it will happen while I'm crossing the street, creeping down stairs. Some day, one of these falls could be lethal.

So, today I have some cleanup from the fall, and a general apartment tidy-up. I should take a bath after rolling around the floor, but I'm a little bit worried about climbing in and out of the tub. We'll see.

Las Vegas and Florida are two parts of the USA I have no desire to visit.

TOD: I haven't been to Vegas in many years. We went a lot when my daughter was in her late teens. We are making a quick trip in a couple of weeks.

I rolled over at about 2 am and Leonard decided that was time to get up. I was afraid he'd wake my DH, so I got up and he followed me out to the living room. Leonard is ignoring me now.

Very enjoyable discussion in last night's posts about BK's favorite producers of the rock and roll.

BK asked last night: "Is there gaslighting going on?"

With 121 Guests viewing the board, and none of them posting or viewing today's posts, I'd venture that as a possible possibility.  :)

I've been to Vegas in 1989, then not until 2002 (on a trip to Vegas and then L.A.), then again in 2004 (celebrating my mom's 75th birthday), then again in 2008 (that was with my brother, sister-in-law and nephew).  Not since 2008, though.

I felt some of the "evilness" feeling John G mentions in 1989, but it seemed to be very family-friendly by 2002.
