I had a long conversation last night with my cousin Debra.

The first part had to do with some work she had done creating a back porch.  I am likely going to have my back porch converted into a sun room that I can enjoy year-round, so I will be using her contracgtor.

We then got onto the topic of a "third birthday party" that I was invited to a couple of weeks ago at my cousin Chad's house.

His daughter Brynlee is three and the theme of the party is "Under the Sea".  I got a special pop-up card with the Little Mermaid in it.

But, the mom moved out two weeks ago, unfriended all of Chad's friends and relatives on facebook, so the fate of the party was in question.

Learned that Courtney is coming back for one day to hold the party and then leaving again.

I'd personally enjoy her returning to the house and being unable to get in...that all the locks had been changed, etc., but the feeligns of the little girl are of paramount importance.

Oddly, half the invitees to the party were "unfriended" by Courtney, so the head count is uncertain.

Of course I hope it is all kept from the child knowing about it and everything stays civil and pleasant. But it sounds like a recipe for trouble.

I have a haircut appointment tomorrow.  Before that, I plan on taking a large load of cardboard items to the dump, stopping at State Farm and renewing insurance on my truck and the getting the hair cut.

That's my life these days.   Doctors appointments and visits to the dump.

Today, however, IS Thursday, and Thursday is cubed steak day at The Triangle (don't be square, eat at the Triangle).

It is the main reason I am going. I want to be there for Chad and for his daughter, and also I want to be there to piss Courtney off even though she had no reasons to hate me for anything. She invited me, personally.

Speaking of crazy dreams, this has really been my week for them. I seem to be cycling through my standard themes, including some that haven't been visited in a while. Last night's found me - and my family! - having just settled on moving into a large apartment, and I have no idea where it was or why it was occurring. The more interesting elements were features of the apartment itself, which would take some time to describe. Someone, perhaps two people, from my former job were present, and there was another unrelated element having to do with a restaurant in the same building and possible reservations for our next Thanksgiving dinner. Don't ask. It wasn't a long dream, but much craziness was packed into it.

Of course I hope it is all kept from the child knowing about it and everything stays civil and pleasant. But it sounds like a recipe for trouble.

I am pretty sure there will be some trouble.  Courtney's mother is behind most of what is going on, I think.  Courtney's family is rather odd and mostly unappealing.  Her dad is great but has been divorced from her mom for many years.  Her mom, Tina, has remarried, but her husband is in New Mexico working and apparently has restricted how much money Tina can get from him as she and Courtney seem to think their husbands make tons of money that they are meant to spend lots of on a daily basis.

I doubt I will witness any trouble while I am there. I won't spend more than a half hour there unless Chad asks me to stick around.  Debra will be there for an hour but she has to work a horse sale and will leave early.

I consider myself moral support more than "invited guest" at this point.

I have heard you calling in the night.

For some reason, I thought of crows when I read that.

"Is it safe to remember your dreams when The Dream-O-Matic is out for repair?" - could be the tagline for a movie franchise of some sort

DR John G., have you ever made a simply syrup infused with dried lavender blossoms?

I don't cook much with lavender.  A little goes a long way. I have been picking it here at the resort because it's in full bloom.  The aroma is heavenly.

Had an incredible meal today.  Not fancy, but great home style cooking with the freshest ingredients. The simple Greek salad was made with the freshest and ripest tomatoes, tomatoes that you might sell your mother for. Well, I might sell your mother for.

The baked feta with tomatoes, onion and peppers was simple but so fine.

The kolokeithokeftedes, or fried zucchini balls, were loaded with fresh mint, feta and eggs and encased in cornmeal before frying.

I think the only TV shows for which I remember music are the ones that had scores by Mancini and DeVol. I remember Thriller with Boris Karloff because O really liked the series and I remember how much I hated the credits music.

I love theme songs from shows lke Patty Duke, Mary Tyler Moore, Gilligan’s Island, The Cartridge Family, The Brady Bunch. I was also a fan back in the day of Mike Post’s themes for St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues.
