Day Six. And OMG, it is brutal out there.

I only had to run out to two stores for a couple of things, but just the walking in and back out to the car, twice, and bringing stuff in at home, was miserable.

We're supposed to get a couple of days relief starting tomorrow. Not a moment too soon.

Captain Smith was a beloved member of my mother's family, by marriage. He was my great uncle. He died before my mother was born or she would have met him.

I’m learning that prospective LA homebuyers must have patience. Late last Monday I saw a listing for a small one-bedroom in Santa Monica. Building was from 1928, lots of light, charming. I contacted my real estate agent early Tuesday morning, asking to view it. It had only been on the market for fiver days, but they had already closed submissions. It sold later that day — for $100k over list price! I didn’t even have a chance! All I can say is that some people must have a LOT of money.
