Singdaw, your 53,000 millstone will be upon us very soon.

Does my number make my posts look fat?  Well anyway. There's a joke in there somewhere.

A Wednesday question for BK. It has two parts.

1.  In the notes you say:  instead I had bacon and eggs, and it was fine and ten bucks cheaper than Art’s or Hugo’s. Well, I don't know Hugo's, but I do know Art's is a supreme ripoff when it comes to the more ordinary foodstuffs. I also know -- or knew -- my L.A., and I know my bacon and eggs. So...how in the [expletive] much does bacon and eggs cost in the Valley in the Year of Our Lord 2024, anyway??

2.  I know the great ones I knew and loved are gone, but surely the tradition lives on? I refer to the ubiquitous Southern California coffee shop. Are there none that you would drop into for such things as bacon and eggs? I know the deli-served ones can be a little nicer. But other than actual fast food, what is the present state of informal, casual eating around there? I'm kind of afraid to hear the answer. :)

Art's Deli - bacon and eggs - $24.

Hugo's - bacon and eggs (comes without toast), 17

I'm just finishing off a little bit of coffee chip ice cream.  If I leave it in the freezer while we are gone it won't taste very good when we return.

Well, the bread is wonderful. Had it with butter and cantaloupe jam.

Watching The Trial. Very good Anthony Perkins. Jeanne Moreau is very different from how she appears in Querelle.

Intersting.  I've never heard of cantaloupe jam.  Not a real fan of cantaloupes, but I'd try the jam.

My friend Clairy in Greece makes it using her own homegrown cantaloupe.

I can’t say I am actually enjoying The Trial, but it is nightmarish. And visually fascinating.
