I'm up, I'm up - six and a half hours but good sleep thanks to Melatonin. I got up at seven with ABS (Active Brain Syndrome) so I've just been following a couple of auctions, one of which had tons of mysteries from the Otto Penzler collection - he owned the Mysterious Bookshop in NYC and LA and had the biggest mystery collection in the world. Tons of signed books and each lot consisted of quite a few books, many inscribed to him. I have a lot of what he was selling, purchased at the LA branch of his shop, in the garage.

What he wasn't selling, at least not with THIS auction house, was anything really rare. I'm sure those he'll either keep or give to a major auction house - you know, the Agatha Christie, Chandler, Woolrich, Ross McDonald - the big boys and girls of the genre.

The book auction I'm following is done soon and then at eleven there's another book auction I'll probably follow along - I love when stuff I have is auctioned for nice dough. I think the bidders on the Penzler stuff were all dealers and we'll be seeing all that stuff show up on eBay and the ABE at inflated prices.

I like her. I don’t find anachronisms, like I do in too many historical novels these days. I have fun with characters overlapping from Austen’s novels.
