TOD:  There was a pretty spectacular young performer playing Adelaide in a school production of "Guys and Dolls" that my nephew was in, in New Jersey about two decades ago.

The high school I've been hired to play at for some 13 or 14 years (the one that got Robin de Jesus started in musical theeder) has traditionally had some of the best productions around, and I'd nominate their 2018 Addams Family as knocking it out of the park.

But they do have competition these days, and the Matilda I played this spring would have to be one of the all time winners.

I should have some photographic evidence, but it's not accessible where I'm sitting now...with a cat on me.

The local performing arts school does some fine productions that they on a grand scale. Saw their Chicago, Bonnie and Clyde, and We Will Rock You. But it was their Anything Goes with a huge orchestra that was the best.

The one high school production that surprised me most was in Camden, Ohio, near Middletown. It was All-American. Yes, the Mel Brooks book is a joke, but the kids did the Strouse-Adams score justice.

I enjoy a lot of high school productions, although I don't attend as many as I used to.

I am just annoyed when the local dance teacher in a town is employed as a choreographer.....because when the music starts it suddenly becomes a recital that has nothing to do with the song or the story.

However I recently came across this YouTube video of a production of Peter and the Starcatcher that I really liked.

Yes DR FREDDIE it did go well.  The audience was more enthusiastic and the director made a very good decision.....

Some of the scene changes in the dark were dragging a bit....so she changed from black out - scene change - lights up to black out - lights up - scene change.....since the stage crew are all dressed in Pink Panther costumes, the audience enjoyed watching their antics....

And of course during our pre show circle, our LL let us all know how HOT so many of the men in the opening night audience came up to tell her she was.....

DR singdaw and DR GEORGE I missed the diving competition when it was on, so I have been watching it on Peacock.....which turns out to be aptly named.

It's not listed under SPORTS, but you can find it by searching DIVING.

My high school had a reputation for doing top-notch musical productions. In my four years, we did West Side Story (i wasn't involved freshman year), then Guys and Dolls, then Li'l Abner, then Man of La Mancha.

I did only a few productions in college, among which were Celebration, A Little Night Music, and Copland's opera The Tender Land.
