So I had a grand total of ZERO folks come to auditions last night.....everyone wants to be in a musical but nobody wants to be in a play....

I made a few calls.....still missing a couple of folks....we shall see what happens.

On YOUTUBE now and then I watch some Sovereign Citizen videos - the idiots.

And I like to watch Trump supporters show how truly stupid they are - although that can be scary as well.

And I like to watch high school productions of some musicals to see the choreography...it is always apparent when the local dance teacher has been chosen to do the dances....

We've been there, DR Jrand73. For MUSICALS. And there are times when literally only three or four walk in. I think this was in 2017 - we announced Merrily, and several good regional performers told us they were thrilled, that it had been a bucket list show for years. So what happens? One (1) of those people auditioned, and she had a couple of conflicts. (She and one other person showed up that night.) The others? We never heard a peep. That's when we said %#@& it, we're doing I Do! I Do! and we made a grand total of two calls to cast it. One of our best decisions.

I watched a bit of Rachel Maddow last night.

What I learned:

Before Biden withdrew from the race, the DNC had $122 million for the 2024 campaign.  Since Sunday, an additional $150 million has been raised, $80 million of it just for Harris' presidential bid.

I think Kamala has some "legs" in this race.

What I wouldn't give to see a debate with her on a stage with Trump!!!

On a much sadder note, one of my cousins who never discusses politics on Facebook, posted a "doctored" video that was easily disproven to have been an AI-generated voice making Harris sound like a drunk Trump.

I put a link to that fact in comments on her post.

She replied she only did it "because Harris is an idiot.  She isn't qualified to do anything."

It was at that moment that I saw my cousin for the first time.  I knew she was Republican, but I also thought she had more sense than that.  I am disappointed and very disillusioned by this.

Ah, well.   The last time I was assigned to Naples, Italy, there was a move to revive the Naples Little Theater which had a really glorious past.

We announced "Guys and Dolls", and auditions were packed.  The show was cast, and at the first rehearsal only half the cast showed up.  At the second, less than a quarter turned up.

At that point, we decided to do "A Funny Thing..." instead.  First rehearsal, the same result -- folks wanted to be in the show but didn't want anything other than lead roles.

We compromised and did a dinner theater with four cast members.  We all had a blast.

Ohhh, well I, ( a gorgeous grandma) shall celebrate with a dish of vanilla ice cream, and perhaps a piece lemon drop candy ( which  as per Federal law I am now required to keep a supply in my purse at all times, having become a grandma)

TOD:

My favorite rabbit hole is watching Rocky Tanaka videos on youtube.

He visits shelters and engages with stray dogs that look scared and unsociable.

He's very good at getting dogs to respond to treats and affection, but it takes a while.

TOD:  TV theme songs just a few weeks (or was it months?) ago.  After I'd watched three, YouTube kept suggesting more.

The doctor’s visit was perfunctory, a chance to try to get the insurance company to agree to the MRI.

I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep thanks to the idiot neighbors who were in their yard talking loudly all night - I thought they's stop at midnight, but noooo, it kept on going. Finally, at one-thirty I put on some shoes and went out there and said, "Oh neighbors, could you turn down the volume - it's one-thirty in the morning and some of us have to get up at eight." A woman apologized and they must have ended their little gab fest then.

Sounds like it was all handled in a very friendly manner.

Do you know these neighbors pretty well?

Not a good night of sleep. Recurring dreams of ridiculous stuff that has to be done before an appointment. One of the things involves finding a no-kill shelter for a friend’s dogs.

:(  What kind of dog?  There are breed specific rescue groups?

Most of my rabbit holes pertain to things that are already of interest to me, but I can report on a recent one that literally came out of nowhere. For some reason, I was watching a couple of videos about pet iguanas, which are an amazing prehistoric looking animal, and those led me to bearded dragons, their smaller and - Lord help me - absolutely adorable little brothers and sisters.

No, I will NEVER take the plunge and acquire any such thing, but I admire those who do, and who post their all too short videos of their cute little monsters. (I first typed mobsters.)

So, a rabbit hole with dragons.

I'm relieved your rabbit hole only involves watching them vs getting one.

My Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube rabbit holes are the talking cats. I cannot get enough of Penny the Talking Cat, Badger.dot - who was featured recently in People magazine - and the Loki Show. They all make me laugh.
