The alarm rang at 6:30. When I went to the kitchen 15 minutes later to feed the cats, I found the toilet had stopped running sometime in the middle of the night. I flushed it, and it worked . . . very slowly and noisily snce the water pressure in the building is screwed up. To make matters worse, the city crew is showing up soon to fioniosh the mess they began yesterday, so we will have no water for most of the day.

I need to call the maintenance service and let them know the toilet is working and to email the building management and let thewm know as well.

I saw A NEW LEAF in the cinema building....and I don't remember laughing once.

I have avoided it ever since.

I don't remember if I did, but I'm fairly certain I never saw A NEW LEAF. Maybe sometime the right mood will strike me.

There's a musical version of the source material that became A NEW LEAF, called THE GREEN HEART, Book by Charles Busch, Music and Lyrics by Rusty Magee

https://www.concordtheatricals.com/p/1358/the-green-heart
"This musical comedy, with lyrics and music by Rusty Magee, is based on Jack Ritchie's short story “The Green Heart,” which was also the inspiration for the film A New Leaf."

I loved the Nichols and May records, and many other great comedy records, which is how I got to know many of the people who also made it big on screen. But something happened when certain movies came out - LUV, A NEW LEAF, and others - but not all - in the late-60s, mid-70s, with some of my favorite people in them, just didn't call to me. Or I saw a couple of them and wasn't impressed. And yet others in the same period did, and still stand out as favorites. There's no real logic to it.

In fact, I never saw the LUV movie for decades - until the DVD had been out for a while and I finally bought it. Oy. I think I might have enjoyed one or two moments in it, but they're forgotten now. And yet I'd loved the play, from listening to the complete recording on Columbia and "seeing" it all in my head, to seeing it on tour with Dorothy Loudon, etc.  But when some of these movies came out, "something" (cue spooky music) told me to not bother. And it was probably right in most cases.

This morning I ate my first solid food since Monday night:  two lightly fried (they came out more like poached, which was wonderful) eggs. Just a tiny bit of butter in the pan, and salt & pepper. (I'm mostly avoiding dairy while I'm on Cipro, or they would have been swimming in butter.) They were absolutely delicious, and while I like the clear juices and all, I was ready to scream if I had to pour another glass. Three days of that was enough.

I also had had only one cup of coffee on Wednesday morning, which tasted like crap to me then, and I didn't bother with any yesterday. This morning after eating the eggs, I made a cup and it was delicious. So a little caffeine don't hurt none, either, after a few days. In fact, a moment ago I was almost feeling jittery because I wasn't used to having it in my system.

But it was a GOOD jitter.   :)
