Join the moving slowly club. I slept okay, too, but my lower back is killing me. I do need to be thinking about a new mattress. Thank gawd this is basically a ME day, right here in Danbury. And the weather is finally gorgeous, but the whole next several days will be good so outdoor activities can wait till the morrow.

Yes, I have always thought Carroll Baker was the Mrs. Garfein in the song in BYE BYE BIRDIE even though her daughter is named Blanche.

Her son Herschel composed an opera version of ELMER GANTRY and has won a Grammy for something or other....

I haven’t seen a lot of Ken Russell. The excess always seems too, well, excessive. I did like:

The Boyfriend
Tommy

Parts of Lair of the White Worm, which seemed perfectly suited to excess.

I loved Pauline Kael’s review of Lizstomania, where she imagined the personal life of the set builder who had to create the enormous penis Roger Daltry danced on. It was better than the movie.
