It's raining like a sonuvabeach out there, probably for most of the day.

I didn't have a chance to even think about going this year, but this wipes out the last day of the very popular Bridgewater Country Fair. A couple of you probably know what that is.

When I realized that it was a gloomy rainy day, I decided to sleep in with the cats. We've had a leisurely morning puttering around the apartment and a tasty breakfast for all. I've decided to put off the laundry to tomorrow and have a lazy do-nothing day.

I'm hoping to finish the last two chapters of Caleb Carr's My Beloved Monster today. It will be painful and heart-wrenching. The last chapter I read last night was a horrifyingly brutal setup, with a farm cat predator, the fisher, for the final two.

I find Carr's obscuring of time and names often frustrating. The chapter with the fisher takes place around twelve years after he adopted Masha and after the 2012 publication of his novel The Legend of Broken, which was originally intended to be three novels, and the 2014-15 TV production of The Alienist. I still have no idea what the year was when Masha was adopted or in what year she died.

He refers to people in his life by appellations like "My Older Brother," "Two Cat Woman," "the Lady Vet," or "My Mentor."

If you are addicted to seaweed, you should see kelp.

Slept fairly well. In one dream, I was fluent in Italian. Another dream was stressful. But I don't remember the details.

Does anyone have the Harvard Classics volume of The Arabian Nights? If so, is it the Richard Burton translation? Kindle is offering the whole classics set for $1.99. I should just buy it.

I read the first half of the Arabian Nights in the Burton translation but never got volume two.

Do you have that Amazon link, DR John G.? When I click through to the Kindle edition, it is offering a completely different translation.
