My favorite M. Night Shyamalan films are "The Sixth Sense", "Unbreakable" and "Signs".  Each offers very strong performances, interesting stories and fine production values.

Some disagree about the merits of a couple of them, but I don't care.  I disagree about the merits of a lot of stuff folks think is brilliant.

I can give such things credit for what they are, but cannot force myself to be engrossed by them.

Since twists in M. Night Shyamalan films are referred to in the Notes, my "Ask BK" or anybody else question:

Has anyone else here watched the first episode of the new MATLOCK (2024 version) series starring Kathy Bates, Beau Bridges and Jason Ritter?

I'm reminded looking back that the reviews of the first episode do refer to a twist ending, suggesting that the fact that the episode ends with a twist was not a spoiler, though as to the nature of the twist, the reviews seem very careful not to suggest what the twist is.

This review seems to be an exception, the article at the link detailing the spoilers in the first episode, and really analyzing the twist in detail
https://movieweb.com/matlocks-first-episode-twist-explained/

POSSIBLE SPOILER CAPTION IN THAT REVIEW
"Matlock Is a Psychological Thriller Disguised as a Legal Drama"

So as in movies like THE SIXTH SENSE, the makers of the debut MATLOCK (2024 version) episode seems delighted that the viewer know there will be a twist just before the end, that maybe it will provide an incentive to watch.

They debuted the episode of MATLOCK (2024 version) weeks before they intend to start showing the run of the show (the second episode won't be on until October 17) - which seems unusual.

I must get moving.   We are meeting school friends for lunch and then spending the rest of the day with family.

Thanks DR FREDDIE & DR JANE.  I don't think my great niece has any future plans right now.....she just got her driver's license.  She is an only child with all that entails.

The party was grand - my nephew and his wife throw the BEST parties.  Lots of people I didn't know.....but at one point three of my brothers and myself were sitting on the couch together.  I think someone got a picture.  One brother & one sister were missing.

My sister Molly and I enjoyed LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN last night.

DR GEORGE hookup those speakers!  The difference even with a 25-year-old system was amazing.

Finished the Brigitte Bardot movie. Typical Roger Vadim nonsense, but Bardot was most winning. And totally nude behind a heavily vaseline’d lens.

Fun score with an odd version of La Bamba.

Greetings from the Bedford Playhouse.

Early. But it’s a beautiful fall weekend, everyone is out, and traffic is crazy. I take no chances.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  As if radiation fatigue weren’t enough, Richard and I had flu and Covid vaccines on Friday.  We were both pretty useless yesterday, but today we’ve managed to get ourselves showered and dressed in time for the Bengals’ 1pm kickoff.

To extend DR Laura’s election/colonoscopy analogy:  The preparation is disgusting.

I will be so glad to be rid of the political ads on TV.
