DON'T BEAT AROUND THE BUSH
« on: September 14, 2005, 12:08:59 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, you haven't beat around the bush whilst reading the notes, and now you are ready to dive right in and post until the cows come home - they're currently beating around the bush and I must say, they are enjoying themselves immensely.  Go know.

I wonder why that's not exeJesus as it's usually used in relation to scripture!
I had to look this one up!

Any information out there on the "Once Upon a Matress" DVD about to be released.
Also noticed the Barbara Cook DVD (Bell telephone hour) which looks far too expensive.

According to amazon.com, it's not going to be released until December 20.  I would assume that this is after it's aired on US TV.  Here's a picture of the DVD cover:

That's all I know about the DVD.  I'd never heard of Barbara Cook's Bell Telephone Hour DVD.

And on that note (F-flat...enharmonic of E-natural and D-double sharp), I must be going to bed so that I may sleep and get to work at a reasonable hour (my supervisor is flexible with the schedule).  Goodnight (good evening...good day?), Tomovoz!

True DR George. I'll have to wait until tomorrow for more news.  I didn't know it the  Matress had been aired or not. (sorry couldn't resist that)

Jose when is Mr. Panaro leaving POTO? I know you said he was "in his last weeks" will he still be there the first week of October?  Perhaps the Vixter and I  can stop by the stage door when we are in NYC on 10/4 or 10/5. or maybe I can manage a pair of seats in the nosebleed section

(maybe we can sneak down to one of the box seats, I hear box five is usually left free  :D)

I have to save my pennies before we can manage orchestra seats again

I am sure that she would love a phone call from Mr. Panaro,  what a wonderful offer! I suspect she may be so awestruck he may found himself talking  to "empty air" though!  :D

And now I am all alone. Vixmom before 9am. What a surprise.

Time to wash the old oatmeal bowl and then off to work.

No questions yet.

Kathie Lee Gifford as Aimee Semple McPherson.....I am speechless!

Rocky Jones.....Benjamin Kritzer visited that set - so perhaps that is the sci fi set that Bruce Kimmel visited as well.  RJ featured the handsome Mr Richard Crane (later of Surfside Six) and the luscious-liscious Miss Sally Mansfield as Vena Ray.

That DVD cover is scary!  If Burnett is playing Aggravain, who is Ullman playing?

I think DRJOSE talked about seeing The Brown Bunny in the theatre, maybe it was when he was in LA doing WHAT IF?

I am listeningt to AccuRadio and they are playing one of my favorite songs in the entire universe, Someone in a Tree, from Pacific Overtures (OBC). Ahh, such genius!

My real reason for posting is to update our DRs on the status of DR Elmore (Larry Moore). He has been without Internet access for almost 24 hours. He wants everyone to know that he's fine and busy but Time-Warner Cable has failed him. When his Internet is back up he will post as soon as possible.

Back to work for me.

Kathie Lee Gifford as Aimee Semple McPherson.....I am speechless!

Actually, Kathie Lee has written the book and lyrics of Hurricane Aimee, but is not starring in it. (though one could easily imagine the star having an opening night accident and Gifford announcing "I'll go on!" amid all the chaos.)

Good Morning!

I'm up.  I'm up.  What to do?  What to do?

Hmm...

I wonder if DR elmore's Time-Warner cable/internet problems are related to the cable/internet problems here further uptown.  Hmmm....

Yes, I did see "The Brown Bunny" whilst I was in L.A. last summer during What If?.  -And I believe that my review sounded quite similar to BK's.  ;)

So..  My question for Ask BK Day...

Did you actually buy a copy of "The Brown Bunny"?

If so, WHY?!?!?

And, again, if so, have you already brought it back to Amoeba to get credit?

And, if so, just how many other copies of the DVD did Amoeba already have in their used pile?

;)

I believe today will be a cleaning and organizing day for me.  At least for a few hours.  I may head out later this afternoon, but, then again, I may not.

Exciting, huh?

But I'll see what I can do about that phone call.

Alright, I have an announcement to make:

I am now a checkerboard chick!

Er--no--wait a minute!--

What I meant to say was, I am now amongst the Tivo oriented!

Last week I purchased a Toshiba DVD recorder/Tivo unit.  It has a 140 gb hard drive along with free basic Tivo (it also offers a free 45 day trial period of Tivo Plus, which I'm currently using--I'm sure I will sign up for it when the trial is complete.)

Anyway, I just love it!  I set it up on Thursday night and been playing with it ever since.  The first thing I had it record was Classic Arts Showcase, and then the Katrina Telethon on Friday night (which was also the first program I recorded to DVD.)  Over night on Saturday I set it to record Gigi, The Pirate and Hans Christian Anderson.

What's strange--and what I haven't completely figured out yet--is why it chooses to record other programs on its own.  I can understand why it went ahead and recorded Brigadoon and Follow The Fleet, but I have no idea why it has been choosing to also record such shows as The Fairy Oddparents, Designing For The Sexes and yesterday morning's Today Show.  As I was leaving for work this morning, I saw the red recording light was on again.  I have no idea what it could be recording.

Along with DVDs and CDs, the unit will also allow me to view photos that I have burned onto CDs or DVDs, along with playing MP3 files that I have likewise burned.

And the Tivo pause, rewind and fast forwarding functions of live TV are a definite plus, too.  It truly is a new way of watching television.  It's like everything is on DVD now.

Now comes a project that will most probably take the next year or so to complete--transforming my huge VHS library to DVD.  I'll probably start with my Tony Awards ta pings.
