Watching an oldie called Thunder in the East. Alan Ladd isn arms dealer. Deborah Kerr is a blind British woman. It’s set in Ghandahar, which is now Kandahar, Afghanistan. So wrongheaded these days with the hindsight of history. Still is fairly intriguing as a Hollywood artifact.

Don't give them any banking information, Elmore! Or send money to pre-pay the taxes!

I'd be very concerned it's a scam.

I was thinking the same. But still hopeful. Wouldn't a windfall be nice?

I'm not. The phone call came from the FTC, and here's the website for the attorney, Peter Klein, who's representing these claims:

Still, if it were legit, why would they have waited so long to reach out?

That website also looks scammy. Copywrite 2024 and the popups are in Spanish.

I'm always paranoid, but my investigation online into the matter seems legit. Still, as I told Joshie,I won't believe it until I'm holding a check.

For the second day in a row Keith got Wordle in three.

Good for Keith!   I got it in 3 today (but not yesterday).

Well, eventually things come out in the wash. Supposedly, Monica Keasler, a photographer who lives in Texas, was the one behind reporting Peanut and Fred the raccoon to the NY DEC. She's deleted her social media accounts because of the hatred, but her defense was captured.

WTF??  There have been so many other pet squirrels and raccoons posted online.  Why report these specific pets??

There are tons of photos of little Peanuit, but Fred the raccoon mostly exists in videos. He was just a baby.

So cute! :(

Well, hold onto your hats! Here's today's phone call story.

About a month ago, I got a call from a Kyle Anderson with the Federal Trade Commission. I returned his call, left a message, and thought no more about it. Last week he left me another message, and I again called and left him one. Thirty minutes ago, he called, and we spoke. He told me that, according to his records, I was a Publishers Clearing House winner in December 2022, and they want to klnow if I accept or decline the win. I told him that I stopped believing in PCH sweepstakes and that I had been for the past 15-20 years tossing out their mail.

Is this for real??

I'm all set up to host another gathering tomorrow night. I don't think many will come, because of the election results. So I'm not putting in much effort.

I'll make an applesauce cake again, plus there's leftover cookies from yesterday's church function.

There are two movies on FXM this month that I enjoy:

The Best Of Everything - with some nice performances, directed by Jean Negulesco and featuring bad actress Suzy Parker as.....a bad actress.

Hand of Death with John Agar - if MR BK hasn't seen this film there is a lot of on location filming in Santa Monica.....the town and the beach.
