Today's Word of the Day is one of the most mispronounced of any.

I absolutely hate it when it is turned into a four-syllable word.

It's nothing of the kind.  It has three (count 'em 3) syllables:  MISS-chuh-vuss.

Far too many pronounce it as though it were spelled differently:  Miss-CHEE-vee-uss.  But "vous" is "vuss", and is not "vee-uss".

And no, it has no "alternate" pronunciation.

I have been guilty of saying this as a four-syllable word.  Thank you for your educational mini-rant ;D

Ushering for a show about Miles Davis this morning. Nothing like Bitches’ Brew at 9:30 am?

That is early.

Last night was grueling and I am dead tired this morning.

Resting, recovering, and eating an okay but slightly disappointing bagel.

Have a good rest today.

For ticket pricing, if people really want to see a show, they'll find the $400 or $500 per ticket.  If they're on the fence about seeing a show, not really excited about seeing a show, even $50 or $60 feels too expensive somehow.

I wonder if I could go on about ticket prices until page 5.

I'm sure I could, but it would be the same old kvetching.

Remember when Angela Lansbury in GYPSY costs as little as $10 for good orchestras seats.

Thank you.  So far I had just seen we have rain and a wind advisory.  So far it isn't windy.

Not page 5, but we got to post #100 before 3:30 (eastern time) with an assist from my whiny kvetch on ticket prices.  :)

This afternoon’s noir is 5 Against the House. Kim Novak, Brian Keith, William Conrad. Stirling Silliphant co-wrote and produced. He wrote the screenplay for yesterday’s thrill ride, The Lineup.

Jane:  I am aware that the pronunciation of "mischievous" is often more regional.

Here in Johnston (and, indeed, throughout the south) the most common, and egregious, grammatical faux pas is to state "I seen something".  "Saw" never enters the conversation.

"I know he did it.  My husband seen him leave the house with it in his hands".

Drives me batty some days.

I got a haircut and a beard trim this morning.  I feel so righteously presentable as a result!

We are going to be having a major change in the weather over the next few days.

Daily highs will be in the low 50s, upper 50s.

Lows will be in the mid- to upper-30s.   Brr-r-r-r-r-r.

George, congratulations on finding both of your Kindles.

Thanks, Jane.  I knew that they had to be somewhere IN my house. :)

I think Skip first met our own BK during the run of that show at the Old Globe.  (not the same sparks, of course)

Lucky for you! ;)
