Excellent night of sleep.

No memory of the dreams, but I know I dreamed.  Odd, isn't that?

The cooler nights have a lot to do with that.  It's currently 43 degrees.  Tonight through Saturday night, the temps will be in the 30s.

Today is gorgeous, though!  Cannot complain about the weather at all.

I'll take some gingerbread, thank you very much.

DR Elmore, I’m so sorry about your computer woes.  Techno-stress is no fun.

TOD:
I remember liking both the soundtracks for "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" and "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie," so maybe I was on a Rod McKuen kick for a while.

Also the soundtracks for "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Lost Horizon" and "Gigi"

DR Elmore, this Apple experience sounds like the worst thing ever.

I don't know what every step was about, where various data is supposed to reside, or what SeaMonkey is about. But no matter. The end result in losing data and history is beyond infuriating and disgusting. I hope the situation is completely remedied for you, and soon.

For some reason, I knew the Marni Nixon "Mary Poppins" recording long before buying the movie soundtrack

North by Northwest:  Wow, what a history. I just looked to see which CD I have, and unfortunately it's just the Rhino. I did buy that first "digital LP" the moment I saw it at Tower Records. Memory tells me this was in 1982, maybe 1983. I was so thrilled to discover the record, but what a bizarre listening experience it was. I believe I played it through once and put it away. I took it out some time later and gave it another try, and put it away again. The listening experience was actually exhausting! Like BK said, the sound is so distant - UNTIL you get to something loud, and then it threatens to blow your speakers out. Is such a dynamic range "realistic"? Maybe on somebody's meter, but not in the way we perceive music in reproduction. So it's probably been close to 30 years since I listened to it, and I'll have to take it out again sometime when the mood strikes. No promises on how soon that will be.

Psycho:  I discovered the London Phase 4 recording of the Herrmann/Hitchcock thrillers just before moving from Cleveland to L.A., and I played that LP to death in the first year or more that I had it. As I was later to find with Herrmann's re-recordings of soundtracks, the tempo in nearly every selection was on the slow side, but to have the music issuing through my speakers was nevertheless thrilling. A few years later, something interesting and fun happened:  One night I had a dream that I was in a record store and there was the soundtrack to Psycho! The next day, which must have been a weekend when I normally did this, I was in Westwood and going into Vogue Records for a leisurely browse. And what did I find there, but Herrmann's newly-released complete re-recording of the score? Was I still dreaming? The black-and-white with red accent cover art was even reminiscent of the dream. I of course bought it and rushed home to hear it. Tempos still slow, but how incredibly wonderful to have every cue (or nearly so) from the film. I'm not making up that story. I always say I'm not psychic in the least, but I think I've had that dream thing happen on another occasion or two as well.

There certainly have been other soundtracks to both movies and TV shows (notably The Twilight Zone) that I always wished were available, but I don't recall at this moment what the other movies would have been.

In the mid-to-late 1980s, however, I discovered the five TZ albums released on Varese - at Aron's Records, I believe - and snatched those up. It was some time later that I realized they were produced by one BK. I have always been so damned glad I got those when I did, because they seemed to become scarce pretty quickly. They're still here, and remain a prized part of my collection.

DR GINNY thanks for the WICKed repor.

I am with DR RODZINSKI.....I shall probably skip it.  I don't like the songs and I have an aversion to both leading ladies.

We have snow on the roof, the car windshield, and the grass, but none on the street yet.

But we are under a Winter Weather Advisory.

I really loved the GYPSY soundtrack.  I also liked The Carpetbaggers and To Kill A Mockingbird.

I was sad not to have any of Ronald Stein's sci fi/horror tunes.....and then I found the CD produced by MR BK NOT OF THIS EARTH - and it is such fun!
