DITTO! Didn't realize from the initial announcement that the concert was being repeated.

Dancing was long tonight. I feel exhausted.

The pie was excellent. I used walnuts and added orange set. By a great coincidence, a friend brought cranberry sauce with orange and walnuts in it. They made a great pair.

Watched an okay b-movie directed by John Dahl - a good director. Script was not so hot nor was the over the top performance by Steve Zahn, but his character is written so annoyingly that he probably had no chance. The co-writer? J.J. Abrams back in 2001.

Joy Ride is the film. Wikipedia page clearly written by an idiot fanboy, who brags that the film made "over" 36-million worldwide on a budget of 23-million, like that was a major hit. No. First off, it only made 21-million in the US - 14-million overseas. So, in the US it was a complete bomb and overseas profits were never going to help this even get near breaking even. It would have had to have made two-and-a-half times its budget to break even. Then add prints and advertising to that. Amusingly, they made two cheapo direct to video sequels, which were also bombs. Sometimes one questions the brain power of the people who make these sequels - and make them seven YEARS after the fact.

The ONLY reason this succeeds in the ways it does, if one overlooks the idiotic behavior of its characters, is because John Dahl is good at this kind of film. Acting from the other two leads, Paul Walker and Leelee Sobieski, is fine. The villain, who we basically only hear, was voiced by Ted Levine, the serial killer from Silence of the Lambs.

Apparently, there were several reshoots, including five different endings - think that could be the problem? When they green light a film that has an ending that needs five alternate endings to be shot. Think maybe someone should have done, I don't know, a rewrite?

Of course, the ending they finally chose was the one where the villain doesn't get what's coming to him. Oooh, surprise ending meant to be chilling, if it hadn't been done ten zillion times.

Despite all that, it's only ninety-three minutes and I really like Leelee Sobieski. I wondered why I haven't seen her in anything in YEARS.

So, she gave up acting in 2012, when she married Bruce Kimmel - oops, sorry - Adam Kimmel. She has two kids and is a painter whose had several gallery shows. The reason she gave up acting is interesting - mostly because "ninety percent of acting roles involve so much sexual stuff with other people, and I don't want to do that."  And good for her.
