DR John your dessert last night sounds incredible, except for the pecans but I expect those are easily removed.

Got tickets for White Christmas at the movie theater. It’s the 70th anniversary screening.

It was. You know, maybe they could do it with toasted hazelnuts. (Wink, wink.)

From John:

Quote
Has it become common to serve the man first. Three times tonight, I received my dish before the three women at the table. I didn’t say anything to the staff, but I did say it to my friends, who had noticed it too.

Not usually at a posh place, unless your food came out first.

Last night we did not eat at a posh place.  The server, not the waitress, came out with the food, picked up one dish at a time and asked who it was for before serving it.  Still, I think he managed to do the women first :)

Could be. Two-minute Mysteries were in print for a long time through Scholastic Book Services.

I bet then that they were purchased at the school book fairs. I loved working those.

Turns out today was to prep the bit of tooth that's getting the crown and to take an impression. That's all done now but I won't get the crown until 12/31 at noon.

Hope you’re not in pain and agony again at Midnight to welcome the new year.

I never have, or need, shots to numb my mouth for the final crown placements.  It isn't a big deal.

Not that it was beautiful.  It was fun when each of us did a wall and we worked on them together.

Miss Giselle MacKenzie was my favorite part of Your Hit Parade - although I liked Dorothy Collins as well ("So round, so full, so fully packed!"

I have a couple of CDs of Miss MacKenzie's singing and they are on high rotation around these parts.

This is in my top ten.....

I loved them both, along with Snooky Lanson and Russell Arms.

My cataract surgery went very well, although it seemed different from the first one.  I must have been a bit more "under" that first go-around.

I was home by 9:45 a.m., though, and the trip took 45 minutes, so...

I sit here with a clear plastic patch over my left eye.  All is cloudy, a bit watery and often gritty, but I shall persevere!

It is currently a very chilly 50 degrees, but the day is very bright (!!) and sunny.  Off in the distance (less than a quarter mile away, actually) someone is chain sawing a downed tree.

That particular pastime/function/necessity will be happening for quite some time to come as many of the Hurrican Helene casualties remain uprooted where they fell during that storm.

I am almost certain that you cannot tell, but I am still a bit groggy/goofy from the anesthesia.

I notice it more when I get up and walk than I do when I am seated.

I was groggy, at least partially, the rest of the day.

My second one was a little different, too, in what I was “seeing” during the surgery. I didn’t get quite the interesting light & color show as I did in the first. I still remember it, and I wish I had the skill to create a video or something to show people - including my doctor who was interested in those perceptions of what was going on.
