Had a message from another gal at the insurance company - had to sign one additional document, which I did online, and THAT should now trigger the payment, so hopefully today it will arrive at some point soon. Digits crossed and thanks for all the vibes and xylophones and keep 'em coming so we can have a Merry Christmas here. :)

Not yet. Have e-mailed the gal who's supposed to release the payment - nothing. Texted the new gal who wrote and asked her to make sure the other one was working today and if not, to please have someone else release the payment. This is excruciatingly excruciating but hopefully by the time I get home from food and shopping, it will be done.

She's working. And apparently not  in such a hurry to release the payment. She seems not to understand how stressful this has all been.

Now she says she's sent the payment request to a supervisor for approval and that I'll get an e-mail when I can retrieve the money and that will happen sometime today.

Great news!  Some real progress.

From DR Laura:

Quote
When we sold our old church building, they removed the time capsule that was placed under the cross. One of the items inside was a note from the pastor's teenage son. He's now one of the older guys in the congregation.

That must have been fun for him to see it opened.

I keep thinking of the miracle of the Christmas card getting there unusually fast, especially since Bryan's birthday card/gift seems to be missing and we mailed it early.

I can balance a checkbook.

My only problem in doing so is that I always run out of numbers too soon!

Or...

I can't be overdrawn!  I still have checks left!

;)

I did get one bit of good news this morning: John Wilson sent me a thank you for his Christmas card. He's recording in the spring the new edition of Guys and Dolls that Jason Buell and I co-edited in 2017.

That's so cool, Larry!

Well, here's today's shocker. Yesterday morning, around 7:30, a sleeping woman was burned alive in a subway car. A Guatemalan man has been held by police.

Oh, my goodness! :o

Today is the fourth anniversary of the death of my beloved friend Rebecca Luker.

It's been four years?  I never would've guessed. :(

Payment two has not arrived. I'm gonna give it another hour and then I'm taking the gloves off, I'm afraid.

Back, from four (4) hours of HELL, to wit:

The bank - No problem. In and out. Done.
Store #1 - HELL. They inexplicably had almost nothing I was there for, and someone I (happily) hadn't seen in years found me and put me through HELL bringing me up to date on their life and that of others. Pure torture.
Store #2 - HELL. Nothing fancy, just plain HELL. Every which way.
Store #3 - Piece o' cake, since it's right next door to Store #2 and I could walk in, buy one thing, and get my ASS out.
Store #4 - Walked in, took one look around, and walked right back out. I didn't need it THAT bad.
Gas station - Put 2 gallons of gas in the can I brought with me for the snowblower, etc. All fine, except it didn't spit out a receipt after I said "yes" to "do you want a receipt?"

The traffic:  I only got about four miles from my house (as the crow flies - till somebody shoots the bastard down), and it was HELL the entire way. From what I could see in a couple of places, the opposing traffic had it even worse. Still...

Just sent a really long text to everyone on the text thread. I think their plan is to string this out until the end of the day or even morning and I told them that it's neither fair nor right for it to take this time once I signed the additional document and the gal who sent it to me wrote, "As soon as it is completed, I will let your adjuster know they can release the final payment. If you have any questions, please let me know."  Well, release the damn payment already. I don't need this damn anxiety anymore. I've had it since Friday.
