When we arrived at the gym today they were busy cleaning up broken glass from the large double-paned window next to the door.

A homeless person angry that they wouldn't let him take a shower banged on the window until it broke.

Around noon, I opened all the Christmas cards I've received, played at the computer, cleaning out what I can of the iTunes mess. I fed the cats and had my dinner. Around 5:00, I got an unexpected Amazon email informing me that a DR had sent me a gift certificate. It was my one Christmas gift and it was completely unexpected. I was moved to tears by such unexpected generosity and kindness.

That's wonderful, Larry!

Mostly I felt bad for the staff who had to call the police and deal with this.

DR Elmore --

Today I started my little Nutcracker recordings project, in which I'll be listening to whatever I have here and keeping track of cuts and anything else of note.

I began with Irving/NYC because you said there was a problem with the mouse fight music repeating. I should go back and find the post, but I believe that was the gist? I just listened to it straight through, playing the copy sitting on Google Drive, and there's nothing at all amiss.

We're in an unknowable digital world here, where anything that happens is inexplicable, so I wonder if your iTunes train wreck affected this. I would toss your copy and download it again:

Act 1:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1twnAhOLZ0UnAMXhZaZ_QIk1nahQpZ270/view?usp=sharing

Act 2:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-WmjVJcod5HAZRysphvMMAQ04x7snZgg/view?usp=sharing

And of course let me know if anything weird happens.

Today is the DH's birthday - the Feast of Stephen that Good King Wenceslas talks about. We went out for breakfast, and a friend is throwing a dinner party tonight.

A Very Happy Birthday to Your DH!! :)

TOD:

Tom Cruise

Maybe I’ll think of others, but no one else is coming to mind.

I thought of him and Adam Sandler, then couldn't think of others, so I stopped.

Don’t forget Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s version. It’s on YouTube

I took down the Sad Christmas Tree, and Leonard is zooming around the living room.

Boxing Day greetings!  We had a very quiet Christmas Day, the highlight of which was a 3-party live chat with Rob’s household in Illinois and the other grandparents in Michigan.  We got to watch Charlotte and Hannah open a huge box that spewed forth half a dozen BLUE balloons, signifying the new sibling will be a brother!

Congrats on the blues! ;D

From DR George:

We also had bagels and cream cheese and smoked salmon (but not lox).

Do you mean those fat pieces of smoked salmon?  And you put that on bagels and cream cheese  :o

No, these were thin slices of salmon, and I (personally) did not have any of the salmon.  Not my jam. :D
