Well, you've read the notes, the notes called as did Muse Margaret, and now it is time for you to post until the calling cows come home.

I was just about to post this last night:

And here is the living proof. Night of the Living Proof.

Congrats on the momentous millstone, Rodzinski! ;D

TOD: Indiana is tornado country. We had a lot of drills at school. But I recall one night my parents were out and we kids worked ourselves into quite a froth of fright about a storm in the area. We were all huddled up with blankets and “supplies” ready to take up residence in the basement. Luckily, nothing big materialized.

Yesterday, I came across this picture that some guys took in the middle of everything.   It was from their Snapchat account:

I don't know specifically where this picture was taken, though.

Topic of the Day:  MOST fortunately, no.  I've never been in any kind of evacuation situation.

TOD:  There was a situation back in school where we had to evacuate our dorm building.  The evacuation went smoothly, and IIRC it was something in the building's wiring.

In the 1990s, we were in the theater to see the CHICAGO revival and everyone had to leave the theater because of an apparent anonymous threat that had been called in.

There must be others, but they're not coming to mind right now.

I finished WICKED early this morning.

I liked it with mostly the same reservations that MR BK posted about.

And I can see how for a lot of people who see it - young and old - it would change their perception of the 1939 version.

And I just kept wondering why Madame Morrible kept calling Elphaba - "Alphaba."

Or maybe it's my hearing.  And I couldn't understand the last thing Galinda said to Elphy as Galinda walked away.

I wasn't around much yesterday. I was in a really lousy mood about all the things I'm hoping to happen - the ballet, zilch; Annabelle & Thatch book, zilch, Moonshine & Mistletoe CD, zilch - and that might possibly lead to work vs the financial mess I'm in because I have no work. My Paypal is a mess because, while my bank has paid Paypal for a Petsmart kitty litter purchase on Jan. 3, it's still holding the same amount from my Jan. 2 Petsmart purchase on my ledger, and God alone knows when the bank - or Paypal - will release those funds.

So, I was up at 5:00 this mornming for a visit to a local CVS for Covid and shingles vaccinations. Winds are at 50mph this morning and wind chill is below freezing, so I rescheduled the vaccinations and Access-a-Ride to tomorrow.

I did talk last night to a vary dear friend living in West Hollywood, who told me the fires were about eight miles away. He, his wife, and dog were waiting to see how things would proceed.

In late August 1971, I was winding up my year after getting my M.A. degree on the Miami University Library staff. Someone who knew me walked into the new library buildng where I was working to tell me the building on High Street next to my apartment was on fire. My wonderful boss told me to check out the situation and to let her know if I copuld not return to work.

My apartment was in the middle of the Oxford, Ohio, business/shopping area, over two restaurants: Bruno's Pizza and Chick-a-Lick, a fried chicken place. The building was next to a building that had a dry cleaner in its basement, and that was where the fire began. When I gpt to the building, the fire crew were working hard to stop the blaze. I parked my car infront odf my building, ran upstairs to my apartment and started to evacuate things. When I was back on the street, I ran to a pay phone, called the library, and told my boss I would not be back to work that day, and then I called my mother and asked her if she and my brother Randy could come to Oxford (20 minute drive) and  evacuate. I went back to evacuating the apartment.

The police told me to move my car, they closed off my access to the building, and that ended the evacuation. My mother and Randy arrived, and we ended up watching the building next to mine burn, eventually collapse, killing on or two firemen, and I spent the next two weeksa commuting from Middletown to Oxford by car. I had given the library my resignation date, and I was due to arrive at a Pennsylvania college the first week of September. Much of that time in those next two weeks was trying to get the Oxford fire dept. to let me into the building to get my possessions I could not remove on the day of the fire. Eventually a fire marshall met me at the building and let me in. All my clothes were smoke damaged and needed dry cleaning, but I get leave Ohio for Pennsylvania with everything I owned.
