I've finished part one of my tax prep: assemble all documents and statements. I'm still waiting for the arrival of my union pension 1099, but everything else is now at hand. Tonight I will begin part two: collect and arrange all statements by month.

Back to Star of Midnight. They try hard, but the age difference between William Powell and Ginger Rogers is a bit much. Especially when Ginger alludes to his having started grooming her when she was 10.

I’ve started a second Great Courses series. This one is on King Arthur and his historic origins. So far it’s fascinating, especially the ancient manuscript that reads, “Ask every person if he’s heard the story…”

From Variety:

It’s been a glacially slow market at Sundance, with only two other films landing a sale so far. Seven days into the festival, Neon nabbed “Together,” a body-horror thriller starring real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie, for somewhere between $10 million and $15 million. And Netflix nabbed the Joel Edgerton and Felicity Jones drama “Train Dreams” a day later. Several talked-about titles, like Dylan O’Brien’s dark comedy “Twinless,” Jennifer Lopez’s Technicolor “Kiss of the Spider Woman” musical adaptation, and the Marlee Matlin documentary “Not Alone Anymore,” remain without buyers.

Got a very tense noir on. It’s called The Killer Is Loose. Joseph Cotton is up against villainous Wendell Corey, who wants to kill Cotton’s wife, Rhonda Fleming. Very lean and brutal.

Where I live, we get all of our water and electricity through a deal with Canada. So a dire escalation of nonsense would be most disastrous. And probably also for reasons I haven’t thought of yet.

I would hope that your friendly border town will be left alone from this nonsense.

Cool.

I read that Canada is pulling liquor from Republican states from the shelves.  But then it mentioned wines from California & Oregon as well.  I thought that they were just going to do tariffs in response to what is happening.  Sigh.

My book group is going to read Be Ready When Luck Happens by Ina Garten.  I had to look Garten up and would never have picked this.

Does anyone have an opinion about her?  DR John?

The few recipes of Ina’s I have tried are excellent. I hear her memoir is too.

I guess it is popular since my eBook library has 12 copies.  I just hope I get it in time so I don't have to purchase it.  While I do read some memoirs I am not a fan of them, especially cooking ones.
