Why does no one talk about Dr. Joyce Brothers anymore?
I talk about Dr. Joyce Brothers all the time. It's my most frequently told story about trying to book speakers for my law school's speaker series (called the law school Forum).

There's a 10-minute version of the story and a one-minute version. Here's the one-minute version:
This was 1981, way before cell phones. It was during the summer, so I was with my folks in Brooklyn for the summer. Dr. Joyce Brothers had called me to try to set up a date and possible logistics for her to speak to the law students forum, and it was to be included in a TV news show feature on her. I was in Manhattan seeing a show. My dad started calling my friends' numbers to find out if they knew where I was, saying something like "Dr. Joyce Brothers is trying to reach Freddie and it sounds like it's important."
So my friend Keith the day after all this said in total wonder: "Who the f--- are you that Dr. Joyce Brothers needed to reach you at home?"
