I slept well. I had a dream about making pie dough. I am planning on making a roasted mushroom pot pie today. In the dream, I divided the lattice crust dough in two and dyed the halves red and black, so it would look like a checkerboard. Even in the dream, I said no, but I did it anyway. And no, I’m not gonna do it.

Pelham, and Nothing Sacred, wow, hadn’t thought of the latter in a long time! Also Death Takes a Holiday for Frederic.

Kim Novak nothing comes to mind. Just someone I haven’t seen much.

I forgot who the 4th person was.

I remember most from MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT - the scene when March was changing his shirt and the widow lady friend was sitting on his bed making a case for herself being his next wife.

That sounds like such a fun dream.

I don't think I've ever been let down by any of those three actors.

I believe I haven't seen as many Kim Novak movies as some of you, but Balsam for one is ALWAYS an asset. I can't think of any single time that I thought he was wasted or miscast.

I did speak with her that night.  She was in L.A. then, so part of the message once I got home to Brooklyn was that it was OK to call her as late as 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. New York time (which was of course three hours earlier in L.A.)

The play was "The Dance and the Railroad" by David Henry Hwang.

How is earache girl doing? I was fairly prone to ear infections as a kid. It seems like whenever I had a bad cold, I was likely to get one requiring either over-the-counter drops or something from our family doctor who made a lot of house calls during the late 1950s in up-and-coming (ha) Whitehall, Ohio.

Fortunately, I somehow grew out of that, but I did have one bad ear infection revisiting me around 1996. I went to a doctor and got strong antibiotics. He took one look in there and said, "yeah, that's a REAL ear infection". I remember having a really bad cold then, and one evening I woke from a nap, laying on my side, and feeling that old familiar pressure in the ear. Absolutely horrible. Nothing since then, knock wood.

Your story is near identical to mine, Chas. As for DD, few doses of antibiotics so far have helped. And did not make her sick! Her appetite returned by end of yesterday. Still said there was some pain, but slept through the night (with me beside her). Keeping her home from school today.

A Thousand Clowns, good call. Probably the least mannered performance in the film.

I was never a big Novak fan, but I thought her acting improved as she aged. In her early movies, she tends to emphasize the lines that should be thrown away and vice versa. I also liked her in Boys Night Out.

I did check out Kiss Me, Stupid from the library last week, so I do have some Kim Novak in the near future. I didn't care for the movie the first time I saw it.

Just got a call from my dentist's office. My hygienist called in sick today, so my appointment is cancelled. I was offered the next available date - in late March.

MARCH?? :o Hopefully, you can be put on a wait list for cancelations!
