Last night's semi-regular dinner meeting with director friend was just what the doctor ordered. What with the chaos of the entire Wonderettes rehearsal period and run, the holidays, and then he being down with bronchitis for a while, it had been a good long while since we'd been able to just chat and catch up, with nothing that had to be frantically planned or decided.

We always meet at this very popular and comfortable Danbury jernt called Rosy Tomorrow's. I'd been hankering for some fish and chips, so I had (wait for it) the fish and chips. I don't think I'd had any for over a year. It's a good plate, and the french fries were exceptional, almost like the way french fries used to always be back in the day before fast food ones were so ubiquitous and "predictable". I think the tartar sauce could be a little more adventurous, it seemed a little on the bland side, but that's a minor complaint indeed. We sat there for nearly three hours.

Your evening and dinner sounds nice.  I agree about fries.

We’re having shepherd’s pie as the pantry luncheon today. You can all guess what I have been singing to myself.

Fish and chips sound great to me.

I'm ready for more.

Two pieces of fish, and I could have used a third. But LOTS of delicious fries that reminded me of when fries were commonly cooked in beef tallow. I doubt that anyone these days does that without stating it clearly on the menu, but damn, these were satisfying.

Haven't had any in several years, but duck fat fries have become popular in some places.

We have a new burger joint that opened with the promise of beef tallow fries. I haven’t been yet.

DR George, I liked The God of the Woods, just not as much as other seem to have liked it.

I actively disliked it. I’m surprised at all the adulation it has received. Far too long and lengthy stretches of so what. It needed a far better editor.

I do, however, have to join the hordes in doing a quick run of panic shopping this afternoon. Just for three or four things, but still, it's a pain. And I think all of you knows just where that pain is.

When shopping pre-snow /storm days I learned quickly it was best to shop early before the crowds.  I was very grateful that I could usually do just that.

Those of you who watch the Superbowl are you planning to protest it this year?

Since I had to ask why to a friend who is protesting it..... apparently the horrid pres will be there so the NFL is removing the "Stop Racism" sign at the end of the goal post just for him.

It is being replaced with, “choose love”,  a nice sentiment except maybe in this situation.

While Keith was getting his eyes examined this morning it began to snow.  So far it is light and I hope it doesn't last long as I have an early morning appointment tomorrow.

It sounds as if the Fat Orange Felon wants to turn Gaza into a theme park.

Come back, John Wilkes Bootr! All is forgiven.

I was hoping the punchline was going to be that it was all an optical illusion caused by dilation.

We are skipping the gym because of the dilation.  After slipping in the parking lot of Safeway yesterday I probably won't walk today :(

Had a slice of strawberry-filled king cake today. King cake doesn’t need any sort of filling.

Just ordered Panda Express. There are two near me - one super close, one a mile away. The mile away is better because the super close one is in a food court. Grubhub/Prime offers either location, which DoorDash does not. So, this is coming from the good location.

A few Drat annoyances this morning and I've been very strong about correcting these problems. When I sent out the rehearsal schedule, no one had sent me any conflicts - there aren't very many, and I knew two of them and scheduled accordingly. Well, not only did Doug mistype several email addresses, so that we were missing two people last night who now have to catch up, but this morning our leading man wrote, reminding us of his single conflict - it's not a problem at all except no one told me and I scheduled him for his conflict date. Thankfully, it's just flipping the following rehearsal with his conflict and voila - but it makes everyone look amateurish. Keeping things professional at every step makes happy actors.
