BK, I placed my order and it looked like it all went through on my PayPal account, but then at the very end, I got a screen that said there was a problem.

Could you confirm that my order got through OK (this morning around 6:23 a.m. New York time)?

I stayed up too late to finish Murder Past Due, which I really liked and recommend. I want to buy the next in the series and see how I like it. After the two dreadful "Mysteries of Max," it was a pleasant surprise. So I finished the book around two hours after my usual bedtime, so I set the alarm for 6:45. At 5:30, I was wide awake and out of bed. Go figure.

The cats and I have had breakfast, and I will spend today on iTunes. We have no hot water today - as well as no heat - for further repairs on the hot water situation.

DR Laura, what a kind gesture. I can't believe anyone would want to sit through Wicked four times. Since the movie is following the novel more closely than the musical, perhaps your friend will see two different endings between show and movie part two?

$330 per ticket? We need someone with a little brains and a little talent to do to Broadway prices what an idiotic Fat Orange Felon is doing to the government.

James Carville's advice to Democrats is to do nothing about all of the anti-Trump protests going on. The November elections should be very strongly anti-GOP. I just hope we can all survive till November.

Friend said this teen was thinking of taking a theater class when she gets to high school. I think she's in 8th grade at the moment. If Wicked is her first theater experience she'll love it.

Also, I don't understand this part one and part two of Wicked.

The movie that's out now (came out Nov. 2024) is "Wicked, Part One."  The movie "Wicked, Part Two: For Good" is announced to be released Nov. 2025.

The Part One movie, even though it's over 2-1/2 hours, ends at the point in the story where the stage musical's Act One ends, with "Defying Gravity."

Today, a stop at the pharmacy to pick up a new prescription.

I'm starting on a "statin" (cholesterol meds) - the same as many many friends who have been taking them for years - and frankly I look forward to being on them. Price is right, too - $5.00 - but I don't know yet if that's a 30-day or 90-day supply. We shall see.

Today, universe willing, no aggravating outdoors work or anything related. I mostly need to spend time finishing up an internal cleaning and reassembly of my keyboard. I need it soon!

I'm sure I've posted this before, but of course I've got a parody lyric about statins - using the meaning of "dolls" from Valley of the Dolls.

To "Satin Doll"
Corner bodega
I’m ready,
Popped my omega
I’m steady
With that an’
My statin dolls

Line at the deli
They're makin’
Junk for my belly
"Yes, bacon!"
Combattin’
My statin dolls

I'm poised ready to slip
Him a nice little tip
And he sees.
He does not need to ask
And he says through his mask
"Double cheese!"
(I look hungry)

Fried eggs and cheddar
I guess I
Should eat much better
So yes, I
Am pattin’
My statin dolls

I don't remember the first websites I visited. It would have just been stuff at random that I heard about and wanted to try. Most of my early experiences with the World Wide Web were centered around the challenge of getting online and navigating it smoothly in the first place, because all of that so strongly ties in with the internet still being new, and better online connections being new and, in their way, challenging - especially if you wanted or needed the faster ones. And that was me.

I was using my first desktop PC at the time, purchased at our then-new Costco for $800, a "386" whose specs would be beyond laughable if I dug out the paperwork describing it. I had a 1200-baud and later a 2400-baud dialup modem, okay for early connections to things like the pre-Windows AOL, Prodigy, and the like. But once Windows became the standard and the World Wide Web was opening up, you needed to go all the way up to a 14,000-baud connection. Which was easily doable, except that for some cheap-o computers like mine, you also needed to upgrade the serial port (it's all starting to come back now) to run a really nice external modem like mine, OR you needed to install an internal modem which, being attached directly to the motherboard, would do the job. I agonized over that for quite a while and finally sprung for the internal one, and was finally able to get to some web sites. But it was still slow going, depending on the dialup connection or the service provider, and it took some time to learn the different ways of getting that connection good, and at an affordable price.

Yep. My only regular prescription for, let's see, some 17 years has been the blood pressure meds, which have worked beautifully, so now it'll be these two things. I do not complain.
