George, thanks about the line.  It was soooo light I expected it to be gone today, which is what happened for Keith both times he had covid.  Nope, it is still there  ::)

Continued vibes for getting better!

Thank you.

It felt great to go out today even if it was just to Costco and one other stop.

I am not a fan of submarine sandwichs and the smell of Subway bothers me.  I can smell one before I even see it is there.

Funny, by raising your bill, they cost themselves more money than they made!

Yes.  But Spectrum never counted on Rupert Holmes' brother giving cable consumer advice.

I know I never envisioned it either!

TOD: Not something I eat often, but I love meatball subs. I love meatballs.

When we do get subs, it's Quizno's, which is about twice a year. My daughter's favorite.

Same! And Quizno’s carbonara was my jam. Then the Quizno’s disappeared around me. But I found one in Canada recently. Brought back memories.

Topic of the Day:

My favorite subs are usually the club subs:  turkey, ham and chicken (but not roast beef :P ) with various veggies and sauces dependent upon the sub place. :)

Some places (like Subway) have specialty subs and I'll get those once in a while, but because they're usually more expensive, I don't get those on a regular basis.

And the McRib at McDonald's - which is also in a submarine-style shape for the bun and the "rib" -  is normally quite excellent, but they only have them for limited times for some reason.

I do enjoy the limited McRib, also.  Before my sister gave up meat, that was one of her favorite McD sandwiches.

Speaking of being dead, I am totally shocked by the news of Paul Ford's death. I've known Paul since 1983 or so, when he played one of the two pianos in Jerome Kern's Roberta, for which I scored the two movie songs, including the long fashion show. At the time, Paul was sharing an apartment with Bill Tynes, producer of The New Amsterdam Theatre Company. Meeting Paul was the highlight of working on Roberta. The low point was Bill Tynes' diagnosis with AIDS, which killed him in early January, 1987.

Until I quit working for The Drama Book Shop in 1997, I used to see Paul regularly on my way home from work as he was heading into the theatre district to play in the pit of whatever show he was currently working on. Each meeting was a short street encounter containing outrageous dish of performers and shows we liked or disliked and complaints of health and getting older. He was very limited in his likes and dislikes, as you learn in his wonderful book, and often frustrating and highly opinionated to the point of being irritating, but he was a dear friend. a wonderful musician, and I will miss him.

I read about his death on Facebbok. :(

Chai is a Hindi word meaning "tea." So if you say "Chai tea," you're really saying "tea tea."      :)

I once told that to my sister and she said that to her, "chai" tea meant a specific flavor of tea...not just "regular" tea.

And when you say "shrimp scampi", you're saying "shrimp shrimp".

I did not know that.

If you haven't read Paul's book, I do recommend it.

Thank you for that notice, DR Elmore.

Although I didn't know Paul Ford, or even very much about him, the news was shocking. I will absolutely want to read his book.

I owe Paul Ford for A&T getting published. After over 70 literary agent rejections, I sent Paul an email asking how he got a publisher. He said, it's my neighbor. So, I sent Robert an eail  "How do you feel abpout publishing whimsy?" And he replied, "Send it to me."

That's wonderful, Larry!

Cole Porter originally wrote The Tale of the Scampi.

Down by the sea lived a lonesome scampi,
Every day sitting moist and damp, he
Found his home life awfully wet ...

Do I dare tie this parody song Youtube [still "unlisted"] to the shock of a certain President declaring, even jokingly, being a King?  If I lose my nerve, maybe I'll take it down later.

From the articles: “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED,” he wrote. “LONG LIVE THE KING!”

Felt like a possible time to upload our YouTube to the upcoming 250th anniversary of our independence from a King! :)
The U.S. will celebrate our Semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026. There's still time to learn how to spell and pronounce it properly.
