Yesterday was Nathan's birthday, and the three of us did something he'd wanted to do, that I was doing for my first time ever, which was to go down the road to Danbury's decades-old duckpin (yes, duckpin) bowling alley and try our hands at it.

I had always failed abysmally at the couple of bowling attempts I'd ever made, but duckpin is smaller and easier, and as it turned out, my beginner's luck (which I've often had at various things) won me the match. It turned out to be a fun and relaxing and totally different way to spend a couple of hours, and we'll definitely do it again.

Only drawback, in my case, is that it aggravated some sciatic disturbance that I can still feel this morning. This was surprising, since the ball weighs only three pounds or so. But the activity and movements themselves showed up in my lower back just like certain outdoor work involving a lot of bending tends to do. I shall have to watch that in the future.

~~~Vibes for No Sciatic or Lower Back Pain!!~~~
How’s your Mom?
She's getting better and using her cane/walker less in the house.  She'll still take the cane with her when she goes out, but at home she has enough things to grab on to as she walks around.
I remember the first time I saw a universal remote.
I thought, "Wow. This changes everything."
My friend Sarah left her bottle of Pepsi at a rest stop about 60 miles south of Tampa.
That's where Sarah's soda is.
It's not saliva. It's salvia.
I have a friend named Silva.  I wonder if Silva has salvia.
Profound narration in The Barbarian and the Geisha.
The depths of boredom this movie penetrates is hard to believe.
I also started listening to Geraldine Brooks’s memoir, Memorial Days, which is about the death of her husband, Tony Horowitz. I am not familiar with his writing. But I like hers.
I thought the book was wonderful.  They are both very interesting people.
