I then flew to Oakland and drove with my sister to a wedding in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Was this visit to Oakland the one where we got together for a dim sum lunch?

What a time we had! But no, that was a more extended Bay Area visit.

What do you call an Amish person with his hand up a horse’s ass?

I was supposed to usher for Momix tonight. Ticket sales were lousy, so they don’t need a full corps of volunteers. So, instead I got free tickets and will be going as an audience member.

That sounds great.  How nice of them to do that!

You have to usher 250 times before you get on the free tix list.

That isn't the "ginchiest" deal I've ever imagined!

They have many more incentives on the way to 250.

John G., I believe the current Momix touring show is called ALICE, and is based on Alice in Wonderland.

Watched their promo video…very cool!

Hi DR Iris!  So good to have you back and posting for a while.

Yes, I saw your comments last night!

That video was from my Dad's 100th birthday, which was Sept. 7 2020.   That video with Bill and Maureen wishing Dad (in Miami Beach) Happy 100th Birthday from New York is a real favorite of mine!

Thanks to YouTube, and some help from iMovie, we were able to have a fun celebration, despite it being the height of the pandemic.  (Dad passed away at age 100-1/2 four years ago.)

In 2003 I had just taken off on a plane from JFK at the precise minute the blackout hit the east coast. Somehow they let us go, none of this known to me, until I landed in Houston for a layover and all the TVs said power was out in a huge chunk of the eastern seaboard.

You got super lucky.

In the winter of 2021, Texas had a huge snowstorm that was eventually dubbed Snowmageddon. More than 220 people died, thanks to the ineptitude of state government officials. The power grid was incapable of handling the demand, or so we were told, there were rolling power outages for a week or more. At my house, power was on usually from 8 am to 5 pm, which meant I had to work since I had power. I then had to face nights in the cold, putting on extra layers just to go to sleep.

I found out later that if you lived within a mile of a hospital, your power never went off.

That's interesting about the hospital, and makes sense.

This was when Sen. Rafael (aka Lyin’ Ted) Cruz headed to Cancun, leaving his constituents to deal with the calamity by themselves.

I remember that.

I'd probably wear a tie on purpose just to have the full experience...and to get rid of a tie. ;)

TOD:

First, I was living in a nice villa in Naples, Italy, and came home one day to find no power.  That wasn't unusual at that time, because the usage in the summer was greater than the supply at hand.  We had minor outages or brownouts.  But as the evening wore on, the power did not return.  I figured it would be back on the next day, but when I got home, there was nothing.  I visited my landlord and was told that the "power people" had come by and told them I had not paid my bill.  Thing was, I never got a bill.  I didn't even have a mailbox.  So, I had to visit the Navy housing office the next day (all housing on the "economy" is negotiated through that office) to set it all up.  They found out how much I owed, I bought the lira and visited the electric company's office on my way home. I paid.  Still, power was not restored until the next day.  From then on, I was billed through the housing office and all went well.

That must of been a shock, and annoying that the landlord didn't let you know right away.

Looks like a possible set-up for the violent crime at the start of an episode of a show like CASTLE or ELSBETH:  The killer insisting they just meant to cut off the tie, but oops - must have slipped!

DR elmore3003's friend Judith Sherman is working on a new/old Sondheim project, a continuation of Anthony de Mare's Liaisons project:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gCpMcjodu4&t=28s

I've been looking forward to the follow-up!  It's listed on Amazon:

Liaisons II - All Things Bright & Beautiful, Re-imagining Sondheim from the Piano

The only disappointing part is that this is only one disc, and the original was three.  Oh, well.  Still can't wait!

At this point, I don't know SpongeBob from my ... er, elbow, so I have some larnin' to do. Then in late April, early May, I'm playing it again in another location.

ChasSmith, I really like The SpongeBob Musical (even though I never watched the original animated series).  But the show was filmed and is available on DVD and Blu-ray:
