I know, if I could sing like that (breaths and all), I would then be allowed to criticize ...

I don't like pitting writers against writers, but this was an interesting read. Is Shakespeare greater than Dickens? I would say yes. But I would also argue that you can reinterpret Dickens in any era. We're no better off, especially these days, than we were in Victorian England.  A reinterpretation like Demon Copperhead shows that brilliantly.

I need to let him know what I want to see or don't see since I let him work the tv.  I've told him if anything ever happens to him I will probably never watch tv again, or finally figure out how to find all the shows.  For now I really have no interest in doing so.

The only thing I did was to connect the adapter to the thing coming out of the ceiling!  I don't know what else could've happened to have caused this.  So, I turned off my computer up in my bedroom (no power loss there), then turned off ALL the breakers in the breaker panel, turned them all back on, and all those lights and power outlets STILL don't work!  I'm not sure what I need to do, yet.  That's what I was trying to deal with last night.  It was all QUITE frustrating! :P

Oh no!  Vibes you get your power outlets to work again.

I'd like to chime in with something very positive about Adrien Brody.  I worked for the firm which did a lot of Adrien Brody's tax work for about four years in the mid-2010s, and while this might not sound like a big deal in general, to a tax person it's key, and speaks to his being a very considerate person: The material he sent in was among the most useful and helpful and considerate I'd seen in all my time of doing tax work.

WOW, that is impressive.

First, Morgan Freeman came out and gave a special tribute to Gene Hackman. Then he left, and they went through everyone at a decent pace (not too rushed), AND the music was none other than the Mozart Requiem, sung live BEHIND the main display (you could see the choral group extending to the sides), and it ended by coming back around to Hackman. It was the most beautiful and respectful thing I’ve seen on TV. Like, ever.

Is that fairly accurate? Please don’t tell me I dreamed it.

Very nice, thanks for the description.  I find it interesting that in past years the excuse not to add someone was due to their passing being too close to the awards and not enough time to include them.

2nd one in 2 weeks.

We keep reading warnings that there will be an earthquake here.  So far we haven't felt one, not that I'm complaining.

I don’t like that George resetting his breakers didn’t help fix the issue. But G, look around the house for all your GFCI outlets. The ones with little trip switches on them, often in bathroom and kitchen. One of those may be on the circuit, could have tripped and needs to be reset at the outlet. Worth checking all those.

Excellent suggestion.  I have one in the laundry room I am constantly pushing back in to reset it.

I didn't care for Demon Copperhead.  I simply do not care for these rewritings that are popular.  I am glad I will not be here for my next book group read, James by Percival Everett which is a reimagining of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

RIP - The Original Pantry, downtown L.A.

Not one of my #1 favorite places, but it served its purpose as a "destination" spot once a year or so if you were with others who were in the mood for that kind of fun hearty* meal and experience. Not to mention, unique and popular places that help to define and lend color to an area shouldn't have to die in the first place.

*I hear tell the aforementioned heartiness had become greatly reduced over the last few years. And of course prices, like everywhere, were out of control in the other direction.

They're closed now, but as I understand it, there continues to be a standoff this morning between the (unionized?) staff and the trust that owned/ran the place. I have absolutely no idea of grievances and recent history, so I don't make any criticism either way as regards that.

EDIT:  Yes, unionized. Local 11.

I think they should have included Mitzi Gaynor, Tony Roberts, and Olivia Hussey, but that seems to be a problem every year.

It always does, doesn't it? On any such awards show.

Is it also a factor that people who are interested in having their certain someone included have to pay something (perhaps a sizable something) for the honor? I ask in complete ignorance of how that works.
