One of the questions was about the memorium section.

He said they they have to include people from all the fields,  writers directors, makeup, costumes., etc and try take nominations from the different unions and families, then they try to whittle it down to 32 -36 folks.

He agreed however that leaving Mitzi Gaynor out was egregious.

I shamelessly dropped BK's name during the book signing.

Well, bully for him. It doesn’t bring Mitzi back.

He had very nice things to say about you, Bruce. Said you were very funny, and that he had done several shows with you, and that he always enjoyed working with you.

Speaking of Bruce…

He has not been here today, as far as I can tell. Most unusual.

I hope you’re ok, bk!

I'd like to chime in with something very positive about Adrien Brody.  I worked for the firm which did a lot of Adrien Brody's tax work for about four years in the mid-2010s, and while this might not sound like a big deal in general, to a tax person it's key, and speaks to his being a very considerate person: The material he sent in was among the most useful and helpful and considerate I'd seen in all my time of doing tax work.

Nice to know this about him.
I think he’s an excellent actor.

I noticed his very beautiful partner last night, Georgina Chapman.

I knew I had heard her name before, but couldn’t quite place it.

Turns out, she was married to Harvey Weinstein for 14 years until 2021, and has 2 children with him.

I think Adrien Brody is a much better choice.

I loved the Oscars when the likes of Johnny Carson (first and foremost) and Billy Crystal hosted. There were other good ones along the way, but those guys ruled. For me, the 1970s through 1990s were prime years for the show - and for the general public's interest in it and reception to it. And it really was a springtime celebration, of sorts, even in L.A., as opposed to the late winter hell theyve consigned it to. And there was something so "right" about it being held at the Dorothy Chandler or the Shrine.

I likewise liked the Tonys more before the Radio City years. I loved that recent year when it was held in the older theeder uptown. But I also agree that the Tonys, too, are so much less interesting on the whole  these days.

Chas, I feel the exact same way.

A new tour of Sound of Music is launching. Jack O’Brien is directing. I am yawning.

I thought I had been here. But it was a crazy morning - I got maybe one hour of sleep because I was really freaking out about our set and how I still wasn't really understanding a couple of aspects of it, it still hadn't been taped out, and I just could not get my mind to put it aside.

I finally got up, sketched out a version of the set I thought would work better and enable me to have every moving piece of scenery and furniture onstage without them ever taking up space in the wings.

I sent that to Doug, who thought it would work well, then sent it to the set designer. It doesn't subvert what she was going for, it just simplifies it and makes it work in a different way.

Then we had a conversation and we said we'd meet at the theater, which we did at four-thirty.

But before all that, the musical director dropped off the act two tracks and his score, then I went and did banking - very fast in both banks, thankfully. I stopped at Taco Bell and got some tacos.

Then I went to the theater and we talked through how what I sketched would work and everyone thought it was a good solution to all our problems.

Then I stopped at Gelson's and got a small salad from the salad bar and red wine vinegar for the dressing - so not calories, really.
