TOD: Roast chicken with butter under the skin to make it nice and crackley. You could put slivers of black truffle under the skin for added deliciousness. Serve it with pommes Anna or Greek potatoes.

According to the notes I got last night, it seems they want just “the pianist” to play the interludes in the Waiters Galop so that the conductor can more easily cue the start of the fast sections.

And they seem to be adding one more interlude. Because …  I guess, why not?

And they’re cutting most of the Finale Ultimo reprises. Actually, make that all of them. Just a quick restatement of the title song, and we can rush for the doors.

Tonight will be interesting. But it’ll be a damned vacation after that mermaid thing.

Fried chicken is also a favorite. Just about any way you want to season it. I love Popeyes spicy. And I like it plain with salt, pepper and flour, the way Oscar Hijuelos describes it in The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love.

TOD:  Skip's fried chicken and fried chicken cutlets are my favorites, even better than any restaurant I can recall having.

From restaurants:
General Tso's chicken from Ollie's is one of my favorite restaurant chicken dishes.

Fast food:  Chicken is something that even fast food places seem to do well, as long as it hasn't been sitting under their lamps getting dried out.  Even Burger King, which can be inconsistent, makes a consistently nice chicken sandwich and very good chicken tenders.

At last! The IRS Refund site has posted this on my inquiry: We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe.

WTF? Last year, I was audited and didn't see a refund until June. Are these asses auditing me again?

Actually, there are fewer "asses" employed who can do your returns within a normal timeframe.  Elon Musk fired so many that there will be major delays for everyone.

I relate!  My going-to-bed and getting-up time has remained steady, but the clock is saying I'm an hour late for each.

Add a few sprigs of fresh rosemary under that skin for a truly scrumptious flavor.

Try a turkey with beets on the side.  You can have a Dolly-Horace moment!

It is another gray day in the CSRA.

The geese are still using the pond and my yard for their incessant mating rituals.

I expect a bumper crop of goslings will be traipsing through my yard within a month or so.

The idea that the Democrats are paying people to disrupt Republican Town Halls is ridiculous.

For one thing, yes YOUR views ARE that UNPOPULAR! Get out of D.C. and talk to the people.

And for another thing, who thinks the Democrats have any money to do that?

TOD: One of my favorite dishes to cook at home is spice-rubbed chicken: broiled chicken rubbed with olive oil, kosher salt, and one of the spice rubs from Chris Schlesinger's License to Grill cookbook, usually served with lemon rice. I also love chicken paprikash and finally made a really good one a couple weeks ago.

Interesting.  I know the guy who cuts my grass would appreciate this as he hates all the poopage they leave behind.

Johnston is a bird sanctuary and we have a lot of avian life hereabouts.

Except for the springtime mating, which can begin as early as 3 a.m., geese don't bother me at all.

Someone alert MAGA that it is raining cats and dogs in Johnston SC right now.  So, if they are missing any, the immigrants didn't eat them.
