Jack Vettriano has died. You may not know the name (I didn’t), but you might know some of his paintings.

Oh, no.  I think I've seen seen some of his work.  I really like his style.

Freddie, if you want to respond to the ATC post - yes, they reused movies all the time at Columbia. I think there may be another B-movie that uses On the Waterfront. Also of interest - when the film came out, a young whippersnapper was writing movie reviews for Films in Review magazine and reviewed Bernstein's score, and was very taken with it. The young whippersnapper was someone named Stephen Sondheim.

Vegas Can Be Murder is now on my tablet and ready to read.  Unfortunately I have two library books that must be read first so that I can return them.

Started watching Marion Davies and Gary Cooper in Operator 13. I am sitting slack-jawed at the sheer horror of it all. Davies plays a spy for the Union during the Civil War. She’s in blackface and speaks in a kind of Stepin Fetchit accent. I have lasted 15 minutes. But I think a Japanese horror flick might be less frightening.

There’s still 93 ahead of me in line for Ina Garten’s memoir.

Today I saw some people doing work on the lot across the street. They had a kind of dirt-sifting screen. So I realized they were archaeologists who have to come check out any property under development to make sure there are not tribal remains. I thought, hey, that’s a story my readers might enjoy, so I went and interviewed them. They were so nice, a girl and guy fresh out of George’s alma mater, Western Washington U., working their dream gig.
