LOL DR FREDDIE that's the rumor.

And of course my article will run in the April edition of DR RODZINSKI's magazine American Cemetery & Cremation.

I shall be on my way to the eye doctor in about forty-five minutes.

Hope it goes well!  I am now done with my appointment with my new doctor.  This was just a getting-to-know-you office visit. :) My next appointment will be in June.

Their computers were down, so he couldn't order labs for me to have them done right then, so I'll have to go back at some point soon.  He expected that their computers would come back by the end of the day, so I should be good to go back any time after today.

TOD: My Mom was born in a chocolate store, so chocolate cake, definitely - both first and favorite.

IN a chocolate store??  What's the story behind that? ???

Have you heard the rumor that there's a new star vehicle script about a Farmer making its way to NY in-boxes?

Shouldn't be.  They're only five or so miles away, so it's not a long drive...parking once I get there, however, can be a problem. ::)

As was posted by DR GEORGE I also liked a German Chocolate cake.  My mother made a good frosting.....it was golden with coconut and walnuts.

It has been many years since I have thought of it.

Probably a pound cake was the first cake I ever had....yellow with no frosting, but very good.

I sometimes buy a Walmart cake for a special occasion - and wedding cakes are usually good - but we haven't had a wedding in these parts for awhile.

Sheet cakes are easy to cut and serve.....but I don't particularly like them.  I'd rather my cake not be served as lasagna is.

Wow.  How did that happen?

I'm with you about a good chocolate cake.

All right, technically, above the family store where they lived. And it wasn’t just chocolate, but more of a general store. But I like the way my Mom told it!

DR MichaelG, there have been bootleg recordings of two Love Life productions - University of Michigan, 1987, and Opera North, 1996 - floating around for years.  There was a 1990 production in Philadelphia and a 1991 Lost Musicals in London, but I've never heard of any bootlegs for those two.

Thanks! Since the current Opera North production is being recorded for Capriccio, I'll wait for that. Maybe Encores is being recorded too?

I doubt it. Especially since we now know they've cut a number and the Magician at the opening is now gone. The director, Ms Clark, is clearly incapable of staging something she doesn't understand. a membner of the "I must break it to fix it" school of direction.

Monday morning greetings.  The slight improvement in my mood took a dive last week as we waited out the aftermath of a friend’s March 14 car accident.  She died early yesterday morning.  This one is hitting my girlfriend community very hard.

Oh, DR Ginny, I'm so sorry.

I slept well until the middle of the night, when all hell, the mother of leg pains, broke loose, and I was in agony for some time before things relaxed and I could get back to sleep.

Oh, no!  I hope your leg is (legs are) better now!!

Thanks, DR George! Sadly, my legs barely work these days as it is.

Another controversial yet interestingly expressed online posting about LOVE LIFE, this one from a "JereNYC" on ATC:

JereNYC
"My reaction to this interview is that if Victoria Clark doesn't like this material, think it works well enough for a limited remount, or doesn't think the rehearsal time allotted for it is enough to do the material, why is she directing it?

As part of choosing this title (and the interview says that she is the one who chose it), did she talk to the powers that be at Encores! about this one song that will require more rehearsal time and see what can be worked out about that? Maybe the singers doing it could be brought it a week early? Maybe they could hire a separate madrigal group to do this one number and allow them to devote their entire rehearsal time over the two weeks (or whatever) to this one number. I don't know what the answer is, but I question why the answer seems to automatically have been to cut it."

Very interesting...and good point!

She's on the Kurt Weill Foundation board, I believe.

DR MichaelG, if you'd like the two bootlegs, both in very good sound - I suspect the Opera North was a BBC Radio broadcast - send me your email.

TOD:

I don’t remember not having cake. An early favorite was German chocolate with its eggy frosting laden with coconut and pecans. I asked for that to be my birthday cake several years running.

I also loved Mom’s version of a Black Forest torte. It’s the only version I know of made with a white cake. She would make three layers, cut them in half and then alternate between each layer with brandy-soaked bing cherries or a whipped cream frosting. The whole cake is covered in the frosting and topped with more cherries. Chocolate shavings are spread around the sides of the cake. I made one a couple of times, but it was too hot in Florida and here for it to hold up for very long.

I remember having German chocolate cakes and Black Forest cakes when I was a kid.  I haven't had, nor have I even thought about, either cake in years.  I very muchly enjoyed both!

I remember the first time I had German chocolate cake and wanted to know where the chocolate was cuz it doesn't taste like chocolate to me ;D

No more 9:45 appointments. I left an hour and fifteen minutes before the appointment - at eight-thirty. Laurel Canyon was a joke and not a funny joke. First, backed up two blocks at Ventura Blvd. Then approaching Mulholland backed up at least a mile if not more. Took twenty minutes to get past Mulholland.

I was born across the street from an ice cream shop.  That explains a lot.

And then, street work as we wended our way down the hill. Unbelievable - once past that it wasn't bad.
