The winery owner shucked his boots rather than tracking in mud

They are nice boots.

According to Doug we're light for tonight and tomorrow night but sold out for Sunday. I could do something about tonight, but the gal in the box-office told me I could not book half-price tickets on the day of the show. Seems rather silly to me but that's just me.

But you can book them for upcoming nights?

This week's new THE PITT was particularly bloody and tense and even unsettling, which is the effect I assume the people behind the show basically wanted in this episode.

Moral:  Try not to need an emergency room at the same time the ER is dealing with a nearby mass shooting.

Love Life was wonderful! I wasn't so sure after the first act, but the second act pulled it together and delivered the emotional goods.

I've heard "This Is the Life" and "Mr. Right" on recordings before. But in the context of the show they are so much more effective. Brian Stokes Mitchell and Kate Baldwin sang and acted the heck out of their parts.

John Edwards was a name new to me and did a great job in his solos, probably the next most prominent cast member.

The cast was uniformly excellent, the orchestra playing was great, and it was delightful to see Rob Berman conduct in person after hearing him on recordings.

There's a ton of dance in this show. I know way less about dance than I do about music or acting, but I thought JoAnn M. Hunter's choreography worked great.

I also loved the costumes by Tracy Christensen, especially for the ensemble vaudeville numbers.

So much of the ensemble music hasn't been recorded, or only done in cut down arrangements for solo or duo instead of quartet or octet. It was exciting to be introduced to it live like this.

There is an album on which Kaye Ballard and Alan Jay Lerner sing a bunch of songs from Love Life. Beautiful.

I'm trying to think of how many Weill shows I've seen. Let's see:

- Der Protaganist
- Mahagonny-Songspiel
- Der Zar lässt sich photographieren
- The Threepenny Opera (plus once in the pit)
- Happy End
- Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (never seen, but sung it twice)
- The Seven Deadly Sins
- Street Scene
- Love Life
- Lost in the Stars

So maybe 40% through or a bit more?

Thanks, DR John G, I didn't know about that one. I've just ordered it.

I just read through most of the reviews, where the consensus is this is the perfect show for Encores. I agree, I think you have to have pretty specialized interests (like most folks here) to enjoy it as much as I did. And again, I wasn't really taken with the first act.

Also, Ben Bagley recorded most of the score spread out over his Alan Jay Lerner Revisited and two volumes of Kurt Weill Revisited.
