I survived the night, after a second, minor round of sickness. I spent the remainder of the evening hoping there wouldn't be another. At 8:00, I went to bed, woke 90 minutes later for a bathroom break and then slept for seven hours, which is very rare these days. The alarm rang at 5:30, but the cats and I slept in for another hour.

I had two dreams I remember. In the first, I was in London with (I think) my brother Macbeth. I was working on a recording, then we were packing up to check out of the hotel by 1:00. While my companion was packing, I went to the movies.

In the second dream, my first floor neighbor Alice - who's somewhere between 90 and 95 and bedridden for the past five years - was trying to coax me into giving her a painting she wanted. As she was looking through the various paintings, I accidentally broke a frllage of photos of friends and family from the 1970s that Macbeth's first wife had made for me.

MACBETH'S FIRST WIFE sounds like it could be a title of some sort of variation - maybe how things would have been different had he stayed with his first wife and never married the "Lady Macbeth" that we've come to know
