So Gail and I got there last night.

It was about 45 minutes before the "banquet" so we walked around a bit looking for folks we know.

We each saw a few.

Then because we are both old we decided to sit down at a table.

All of the tables were ten tops.  We chose one in the middle and we sat facing the podium and the tv screens so we could see when something was happening.

The had a lot of slides from our yearbooks going back to the 1930's.

But because they were in no particular order it was really irritating to watch.

The crowd was getting larger, but we were still alone at our table.

A young man and his wife asked if seats were available and I said yes have a seat.

After awhile, I asked him if he and his wife were graduates.  He said yes, his wife had graduated in 2005 and he had graduated in 2006.

I couldn't see either of their name tags, but since he was sitting next to me I figured he had seen mine.

A few people came by and spoke to me.....and a few came by and talked to him.

I said: "I guess we're cousins to everyone in town."

He said: "Yes, we're even cousins."  I looked at his name tag.

It was our cousin Keagan who had FIRED my brother Kent from his job about ten days ago.

[Jrand74]

So the both of us kept things light the rest of the evening.

As we got up to leave I just said to him:  "Well, I guess business is business."

He said: "Yes."

And the evening was over.

I had met him once about three years ago....and I knew he looked familiar, but I didn't really imagine he would even be there.

Our regular conversations were light hearted and funny.

I'm thinking he probably recognized me - if so why did he join our table - surely he knew that it could have gone badly.

Or maybe he didn't recognize me.  I didn't ask.

And that is how the Alumni Dinner for 2025 went.

I also found out when I mentioned the reunion to Keagan that there is a reason that we hadn't been contacted to rent a shelter house for the reunion.

Our mutual cousin Vicki - she is the generation between he and me - had moved to Florida.  And Vicki and another cousin Pam were always the ramrods.

After Vicki's father died, she and her sister's husband had a falling out about what to do with the family property - a very large farm.....and everyone stopped speaking to the other.  I guess brother Roe is in the middle.

So anyway no reunion this year.

Oh I was NOT chosen as Distinguished Alumnus or selected to have my photograph added to the Wall of Fame.

It was our cousin Keagan who had FIRED my brother Kent from his job about ten days ago.

George, your bathroom search while on the road sounded difficult, but glad all turned out OK!  Yikes!

Fortunately, it actually wasn't too difficult...especially since I made it home in time!

Sounds like you had a terrific group of friends and family at your show last night, George, with your sister and her friends, and Shelly and David, plus more theater friends!  It's so nice when that happens.
